Word of the Day: Hat

Calleigh has added another word to her vocabulary of one (now two). She says "hat." I noticed that she was sort of saying it yesterday when we went to the nursery - - I had brought her hat along because we would be outside. But I didn't think she really knew it because she hasn't had a hat on in a long time and thus I haven't been saying the word. I had left the hat in her stroller and it fell out this afternoon and was sitting on the floor. I said to her "Calleigh, where's your hat?" We were sitting on our rug in the living room. She looked over at the stroller and crawled all the way over to it and picked up her hat and said "hat." And kept saying it. So I would say she officially knows and says hat. It's kind of a drawn out version like "haaaaat." But it still counts!

Speaking of Calleigh, the play activity that she loves the most is playing with a tennis ball with Dewey. She's been doing it for about the last month. She grabs the tennis ball and then throws it to Dewey. Of course, it doesn't go very far but she is so proud of herself. She claps her hands every time she throws it. It's so cute! Sometimes she's crawling when she grabs the ball and will throw it from a moving position. But then she'll always stop, sit up, and clap. Dewey plays right along with the whole thing. He loves the attention and having someone play with him. The only downside to this is that Calleigh usually throws the ball with her right hand. This is a major disappointment for me. Would it be cruel for me to tie her right hand behind her back? Kind of like the reverse of what they did back in the day...

This afternoon we went to Accounting for the Road Rally that I organized. The teams had to take pictures of 20 objects in the span of 90 minutes. We did have a few controversies but fortunately it didn't get as bad as some of the disagreements in Nova Scotia - - probably because nobody wanted to get too mad in front of their boss. Calleigh was on her best behavior. While we were waiting for the teams to get back, Cal spent the time crawling all over Accounting and generally getting into mischief. We didn't get home until about 3:15 so she had only a short nap this afternoon. She would have slept more I think, but she had a little problem that required an emergency bath. We'll leave it at that!

Good news on my bird feeder. This morning there was a cardinal getting some seed. Our first bird! I was very excited. Unfortunately, by the time I got Calleigh over to the window, it had flown off and she didn't get to see it. There weren't any birds for the rest of the day since the lawn people were here making a bunch of racket. But I'm just happy to have seen one. Hopefully Mr. Cardinal will spread the word.

As a closing note, we bought the American Idol version of "Shout to the Lord" on iTunes today. Get this, it is the #5 most purchased song on iTunes. That isn't the #5 Christian song that was purchased but the #5 overall song. Awesome!
