Fun at Church

We are going to use this picture as her "official" 11-month photo. It's two days after the fact but it's pretty much the only one with her semi-looking at the camera and giving a good smile.

Today we were back to our regular church schedule - - church at 10 am and Cradle Roll to follow. Calleigh didn't nap on the way there so she was especially squirmy when we got to the pew. I had to take her almost immediately to the training chapel (aka mother's room). I started nursing her and expected her to doze right off but she had other ideas. From where we were behind the curtain I think she could hear a little boy playing and she was intrigued. So I gave up and let her play. The boy's name was Dyson and he was almost two and he and Calleigh had a great time chasing each other around. She would crawl after him and then he would crawl after her and she would laugh the whole time! They played together for just about the entire sermon. You can see the two of them playing with the chair...

Cradle Roll was a challenge as usual. Trying to get her to stay in one spot is basically impossible. I find myself on my hands and knees for much of the time. Not very ladylike in a dress I must say. Thankfully about half way through the class, they passed out little cups of goldfish and Calleigh was happy to sit on my lap and munch away for the rest of the time. Braelyn was back today after being absent last week. Her parents gave a us good scare when they announced they were moving "west." Tangie is from Denver so we assumed this meant they were moving out there. After a few moments, they revealed they are actually moving west by about four miles. They just need a bigger house. We're quite relieved!

I had a weird thing happen this morning with Cal. When she got up, I changed her diaper as usual. Now keep in mind, I give her an eight ounce bottle of breast milk every night before she goes to bed. Her diaper essentially had no urine in it. It is always soaked. In fact, there are times when it's so full it's leaked all over her pajamas. So to find nothing, was pretty startling. After I nursed her, I was immediately on the Internet trying to figure out what this could mean. At worse, if babies don't urinate, it means they have renal failure which isn't good. Thankfully I'm really not one of those mothers who completely freaks out about stuff so I figured to just wait and see what happens (after all, wouldn't this what Gigi would do?). About two hours later after she had eaten her breakfast, I took her upstairs to change for church and voila - - a very wet diaper. So crisis averted! I'll be curious to see what happens tonight. Incidentally, I think I'm going to be reducing her bottle to six ounces. That's all she drank tonight. I think she's getting full from supper..

Okay, that brings me to my next topic. How do you know if you are feeding your baby too much? I know that when she was just breastfeeding, you couldn't overfeed her. She would eat as much as she needed and if she was done, she would just stop nursing. But now that she's eating all sorts of foods, I'm not sure how much to give her. She likes everything and whatever I put on her tray, she eats. In fact, I think she only stops eating because I don't give her any more. She seems contented when I take her out of her highchair so I think she's satisfied as far as not being really hungry still. I asked Tangie today about how much to feed them and she said "Until she starts throwing stuff on the floor." But Calleigh really doesn't do that. For supper tonight she ate an adult "To Go" size container of macaroni and cheese (although I'm sure it wouldn't fill up an adult), about six or seven slices of beets (yuk!) and a banana. I started her off with just small portions of it but she ate all of it each time so I just kept putting more. Finally, when everything was gone, I figured she should be full. So is this too much? The last thing I want is a fat kid. Perhaps it will solve itself when she gets to be a toddler. From what I hear, toddlers are very picky and you are always trying to get them to eat more, not less.

I had to include this picture of my keyboard. I've been having problems with some of the keys not working on my computer, particularly the "O". Duncan said he could fix it for me so he took it off and did whatever it is he does. To get it back on, he had to superglue it. Right after he did, he said "Oops." Well, I think the picture speaks for itself as to what happened!

Well, that's all folks. I'm just waiting for Duncan to get back from picking Ron and Elaine up from the airport and then it's off to bed.
