Today we headed out to the Altamonte Mall where we met Duncan for lunch at Subway. I ordered a veggie pattie sub and took the pattie out for Calleigh.
That worked out well since I don't like the pattie. After lunch, Duncan had to go back to work and Calleigh and I walked the mall. We stopped at a little play area that has a padded floor and then has all sorts of objects for little kids to crawl over, slide down, and sit on. Calleigh thought it was great! She spent quite a bit of time standing up next to a ladybug and then moved on to a big turtle. But her favorite thing were some steps that led up into a little fort and then there was a slide to come down.
I put her at the top of the slide and held on to her as she slid down a bunch of times. Then she would lie on her stomach and slide down that way too. The nice thing was that everything was made of foam so there weren't many worries of her hurting herself. I'm sure we'll be back here many times in the future especially as she starts walking around.Of course, I went into a few shops while we were there - - mainly just the ones with baby clothes. I mostly like to shop at consignment stores for Calleigh (same as for myself) but I like to see if there are any good sales. I found the cutest coat at Gymboree.
The regular price was $49.50 and I got it for $5.99 so I was pretty excited! It's a little bit of a heavier coat with a hood and I figured she can use is while we're up in Boston next week (although I hope the weather won't require it) and she can use it up in Nova Scotia.Calleigh went right down for a nap when we got home so obviously the playing wore her out. Unfortunately, when she got up, she was pretty cranky. She remained that way for the rest of the day. Except for when she was outside sitting in the grass, she wanted to be held. If she wasn't, she would cry. This is very atypical so we're thinking that perhaps her teeth that are coming in were hurting her. Her top front left is about half in but the front right is just crowning. Plus, I noticed that her gum is pretty swollen next to the front left. I gave her some Tylenol around six and she was happy to go to bed at 7:10. Hopefully tomorrow she will be her usual happy self.
Okay, now that I think about it, she wasn't completely cranky the whole time. When Duncan got home from work, he tried to entertain her by pushing her around on her lion. For the first time, she was able to get on and off on her own. Neat! This evening I purchased plane tickets to fly up to Boston for Nova Scotia. We normally drive every year (although I flew last year with Calleigh) but with the price of gas, it isn't that much more expensive to fly ($550 vs $420). Not to mention that you save yourself about 20 hours. Not to mention that I would have probably still flown with Calleigh so Duncan would have driven by himself. We will still have to drive from Boston to the cabins but that's only 13 hours and we can easily deal with that. The very sad thing about it is that the dogs won't be able to come now. They were so looking forward to meeting their new cousins Snickers and Reeses, the Min Pins. And Dewey will miss swimming in the lake.
My mother-in-law, Elaine, went through quite an ordeal last night. She had some pain in her ear when her plane was landing in Orlando on Saturday night. The ear has been bothering her a bit since then. Well, last night it all came to a head. She started having excruciating pain and then blood started coming out of her ear. She went to the ER and they told her her eardrum had burst. Thankfully she was given some pain medication - - she said the pain was worse than childbirth. She goes to an ENT tomorrow to have it looked at. I'm so thankful that she is at least feeling better today.

Corey,
I thought I left a comment a minute ago--but obviously I don't know how to "blog". Anyway, I can't believe Dewey and Marley are not coming to Nova Scotia. Poor little lonely Kuna. We got the nicest card from our vet this week telling us he was thinking about Lady and wanted us to know.
