Only one more day until we leave for Boston! I am so looking forward to it. Before I get into details about that, let me review the day.
Calleigh was up at six this morning which is at least an hour earlier than normal. I think I know why - she has a cold. I've been bragging about how she hasn't been sick once and now, two and half weeks shy of her first birthday, she got something. Her nose was running and she had a fever of 100.9. Despite the early morning, she was still a happy camper.
I was conflicted about whether I should go to the Breast feeding luncheon today because of these symptoms. In the end, I did go because the fever had gone down by the time 11:30 rolled around and she seemed so normal. Plus, it was Lauren and Caroline's last time there and I didn't want to miss it. The lactation consultants did a good job of allaying Lauren's fears about Caroline being underweight so that was a good thing. I thought this would be our last time there too - - they say that one year is the cutoff to go - - but the consultants said we could keep coming for as long as we want. They are really nice ladies. I'm not sure if I'll keep going because it's so hard to control Calleigh and keep her quiet.
Cal took a two hour nap this afternoon and then shortly afterwards, we headed over to Ron and Elaine's for dinner. We wanted to get together before we left. Elaine made ratatouille (like the movie) and it was delicious. Cal had a good time putting her hand in the pool and playing outside in the grass and dirt. The pool isn't heated so it isn't quite warm enough for her to go in yet but I'm sure once it is, she'll be in there a lot. She loves the water.
We got home a little after seven and after a bath and nursing, Cal got to bed a little later than usual at 7:40. Thankfully she did go right to sleep and I pray that continues for the rest of the night. We pumped her nose out before she went to bed which she does not like at all but it would stink to go to bed with your nose full of snot I would think.
So did you see American Idol tonight? It was very strange. Each of the contestants sang two songs a piece. For some reason, the show decided there wasn't enough time for the judges to critique each song so they critiqued all the contestants quickly at the end of the first set of performances. They would then critique the second songs each person did after the performance. So here's the setup: Each contestant has finished their first song and the five of them are standing on the stage in a line and wait for the judges to speak. Randy does his usual "Jason, yo dog, I wasn't feeling that, David, dude, that was hot," etc. Then it's Paula's turn. Here is what happened courtesy of Youtube. Keep in mind that the contestants have only performed ONCE. This is crazy. She really must be on some serious medication or had written notes during rehearsal.
So, tomorrow is the big day. Calleigh and I will be gone until next Wednesday so we'll be there for a little over a week. We're flying on Delta this time because I'm using frequent flyer miles. We've only flown on Southwest (quite a few times) so this will be a little different. I'm a little nervous about it to tell you the truth. The flight leaves at 6:45 and I purposely picked the evening flight in hopes that Calleigh will sleep through most of it. But I'm worried that this cold and afternoon crankiness that she has had will cause problems. I do not want to be that person with the wailing baby on a plane. That would be a nightmare. I pray that the plane won't be very crowded and I'll be able to have an empty seat next to me or ideally a whole row. How many people could be flying on a Wednesday night, right? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm planning to bring a bunch of things (re: food) that I can use to distract her if need be. Wish me luck!
