Nothing to exciting has been happening with the Grodacks the last few days. Unless you count Calleigh still being a bit crabby. It's been a pattern over the last three days. When she's done nursing after her afternoon nap (which she is always up promptly at 4:15 even if I have to wake her up), she starts getting fussy. She wants to be held. She does not want to sit on the floor and play with her toys. I've worked around this by taking her for a walk or, this afternoon, I put her in the Baby Bjorn while I vacuumed. Of course, I can't keep her in the Bjorn for long - - now that she weighs almost 20 pounds, my back starts killing me pretty quickly. When I took her out of that, I put her in her jumper which you can see in the picture above. I gave her a teething ring that I had in the freezer and that seemed to make her happy for awhile. I do think her gums must be soar. But how do you really know for sure since she can't tell you?
Last night we had something a little different. She went to bed at a little after seven as usual. All was quiet until around eight which happened to exactly coincide with when I was pulling the pizza out of the oven to eat dinner. She suddenly started crying and was standing up in her crib. I let it go for a few minutes but she kept at it. She hasn't done something like this in months (cruise not withstanding). So it was quite a surprise. I tried rubbing her back but she kept trying to stand up so that wasn't going to work. I figured her teeth must be bothering her so I gave her some Tylenol. Then I took her out and laid down with her on my bed for probably 30 minutes. I even nursed her for a bit but that didn't put her to sleep. When I figured the Tylenol must have started to kick in, I put her back in her crib and naturally, she immediately started crying. I went back downstairs and let her cry for a few minutes and then she finally stopped and went to sleep. Thankfully tonight she has not woken up (yet).
I love these pictures I took this morning of Calleigh and me playing. One of her fun games lately is to crawl between the couch and our make shift coffee table. The coffee table is actually a leather trunk which is nice because you can store things inside. I keep the trunk very close to the couch because I like to put my feet on it while I'm nursing but there is just enough room that Calleigh can crawl through. She starts at one end and I quickly go over to the end where she will come out so I can say "Boo!"
She laughs and then turns around to go the other way and of course, I do the same thing at that end. It's quite a little game.
We have had no fun adventures either yesterday or today. My goal is that we go somewhere each day after lunch and before the afternoon nap. We certainly don't want to be stuck at home all day. Yesterday took us to Walmart for groceries and today we went to Publix to get the things they don't have at Walmart. Calleigh got another balloon at Publix today which didn't seem to have the same allure as the first one. Which turned out to be a good thing because it escaped when I was bringing Calleigh into the house. Fortunately she was distracted with the car keys and didn't seem to notice. Phew.
Tomorrow should be fun, however. We are having a picnic after church at DeLeon Springs Park in Deland. We are going with Aunt Toni & Uncle Terry, Ron & Elaine, and the Isidros. It's supposed to be 85 degrees and sunny so it sounds like a great day (although a little hot for some of you northerners, no doubt).
Here's a picture of Calleigh trying to sample some of the beverages we're bringing along. I'm sure I'll have many pictures to share from the outing.Happy Sabbath!
