Calleigh now lives in a "gated community!"

We now have two of our three gates installed. The drill bits did the trick. The gate is up blocking the kitchen and also the one at the bottom of the stairs. I think the dogs, particularly Marlee, are actually more disturbed by this development than Calleigh. Instead of standing next to Calleigh's highchair while she eats waiting for handouts, they are relegated to standing outside of the gate peering through the bars. I'm loving it because now I can also keep them from being underfoot while I'm making supper. Anyway, I'm still letting them eat everything off the floor once Cal is done so they still have a pretty good deal. Of course, they're doing a little more than just eating off the floor. Remember how I said they were standing on their hind legs to eat stuff out of the highchair? Well Marlee has now decided that's not enough. She has started jumping into the highchair to get to the leftovers. Calleigh thinks it's hilarious and whenever she sees Marlee do this, she scoots right over to pull herself up and laugh at Marlee.

This afternoon Calleigh and I accompanied Grandma to a local nursery to get some flowers. Elaine drove us in the van. I was sitting behind Elaine and across from Calleigh in the back. Each time I turned away from Calleigh and started talking to Elaine, Cal would start making a very loud noise by hitting her hand on her mouth like an Indian, er, Native American. She knew she was being ignored and wanted attention! We had a nice time walking through the flowers, trees, shrubs, you name it. She loves nature and it was such a perfect day out.

This evening we've been eating pizza and watching tv. The results for American Idol were on and I usually give it a cursory glance while I'm working or doing something else but it caught my full attention when the contestants along with a choir sang "Shout to the Lord." They sang it last night but I had missed it and had to watch it on Youtube. It's pretty neat to hear that kind of song on a regular televsion show and then to have them sing it again tonight was very unexpected. And it is one of my favorite Christian songs to boot.

Tonight also marked the return of "The Office," our personal favorite. Michael hosted a dinner party and of course, it's full of awkward moments. My favorite line was when Michael got upset with Jan after she threw one of his dundies at his $200 (tiny) plasma screen tv, "Good luck paying me back with your zero dollar a year salary."

Tomorrow should be a fun day. Cal and I are headed into the hospital for the afternoon. I put together a photo scavenger hunt for Accounting and there will be seven teams taking part. Hopefully there won't be any controversies!

So the gates are working out for you. It makes you wonder how you survived without them. Love reading your blogs even though we see lots of you. It's a wonderful daily update for Gigi and Papa.
