Boys are Fun!

We were back at our breastfeeding luncheon today even though Lauren wasn't there (still sick). There are a wide range of babies there from 2 weeks to 1+ year. It's so hard to believe that it wasn't that long ago that I was there with Calleigh as a little tiny infant. She has come a long way! Her main companions (besides Caroline when she's there) are Ty (12 months) and Eli (11 months). Both of them are completely bald so Calleigh looks like she had a full head of hair when she's next to them. They are very rambunctious and Calleigh has a great time playing with them. Eli loves to do all kinds of things to her: headbutting, touching her face, putting his mouth on her head, etc. But she takes it all good naturedly. They like to crawl around the room and see what they can get into. Today it was the sound system. They loved all the wires. We kept our eye on them closely to make sure no damage could be done. Calleigh also discovered Ty's goldfish that he brought. You can see her in the picture below just about to take a bite. She did like it despite the look on her face! One other interesting thing from the luncheon - - there was a baby there that was 11 weeks old and he already weighed 18 pounds. To put it in perspective, Calleigh is 11 months and weighs 19 1/2 pounds. Whew! He was a chubber. That breast milk must be pretty yummy.

Calleigh took a nap this afternoon. Yippee! It took her 45 minutes and a visit from me for her to go to sleep but she finally did. Thank goodness.

Calleigh saw her first bird at the feeder this morning. I faced her highchair towards the window and she ate breakfast while looking at it. She was pretty fascinated. I'm not sure what kind of bird this is. I'm thinking it might be a female cardinal since the male comes frequently and maybe he told his wife about it.

We just finished watching American Idol. It was Mariah Carey night which I was not looking forward to since I have never been a Mariah fan. Despite that, I thought David Cook was really awesome. He is by far my favorite. David Archuleta is a very good singer but he's kind of boring.

Some good news out of Florida Hospital that I've just found out. They are FINALLY going smoke free. Why it has taken this long for it to happen, I have no idea. I was at another Orlando hospital last year when some friends had a baby and they were smoke free. I just about had smoke coming out of my ears when I thought about how we're a Christian hospital that preaches creation health but yet, you can stand right in front of the hospital's main doors, and smoke away. Nothing like having a nurse taking care of you that reeks of cigarette smoke. Thankfully, the powers that be, have made the decision to go smoke free on July 1. That means you can't smoke on any hospital grounds nor can you even smoke in your car if you are parked on hospital grounds. Fantastic! Now if I can just get them to take the meat out of the cafeteria =)

Happy 24th birthday, Shannon Kate!
