Feeling Blue? Hear Calleigh Laugh

Is there any better sound than a baby laughing? Listen for yourself! I think it is one of the most beautiful sounds you can ever hear. Of course, I realize I'm a little bias since it's my child...I'm sure you have heard that "laughter is the best medicine." When I listen to Calleigh laughing hysterically, I can understand why people would say that.

But that being said, today was Day 5 of a headache. It started at the hospital and has been here since. I've taken Tylenol to no avail. I really haven't had any other options drug-wise since I'm breastfeeding. It eliminates Excedrin Migraine or any other migraine medication. Normally, I would take a bath which helps a little but the doctor banned me from baths (a major blow since I normally take one just about every night). However, I had just about come to the end of my rope and was thinking that if I took some Excedrin right after I nursed at 7:30 pm that surely it would be out of my system by 7:30 am the next morning when I'd do her first nurse of the day. I was formulating this plan on my way to Walmart and decided I would just go ahead and buy the Excedrin. Then as I was walking into the store, I saw it - - the soda machine with the giant Mountain Dew can on it. And I knew what I needed to do. Mind you, I haven't had a Mountain Dew since December when we drove home from Boston for Christmas and prior to that it had been more than a year. But desperate times call for desperate measures. So I bought it and it was DELICIOUS. Even better, I no longer have a headache! The caffeine did the trick. If Calleigh wakes up in the middle of night and she's completely hyper, I may regret the choice but for now, I couldn't be happier. Now if I could just convince Duncan that it's okay for me to take a bath...

Sadly, those 12-ounces of Mountain Dew have basically been the highlight of my week. Since Monday when I returned from the hospital, I've only been out of the house twice - - the aforementioned trip to Walmart today and going to the doctor yesterday. Thankfully everything at the doctor went well. He did an ultrasound and agreed that everything was gone. Yeah! So I thought the visit was very quick and uneventful and then I heard the dreaded words, "We're going to have to give you a shot." Yikes, no word causes me more panic than SHOT. Because I have a negative blood type (A-, thanks Mom!) I need a shot during pregnancy just in case the baby has positive blood. My negative blood and the baby's positive blood could result in some problems. As it turns out, Calleigh did indeed have positive blood. Anyway, even though there is no baby, for some reason they still needed to give me the shot. I felt I handed the transaction very well and I found the experience to actually be much less traumatic than the tech who tried drawing blood in the ER on Sunday night.

By the way, I really should correct myself. Even though I may have been housebound, there were plenty of highlights during the week with Calleigh around. She keeps getting to be more and more fun as she gets older. She walks most of the time now. It's amazing how over the course of a few days, she can become so much better at it. On Wednesday, she threw us for a real loop. She was playing with the remote in the morning before breakfast. Later that morning, Shannon started looking for the remote and couldn't find it. I joined in the search with no luck. Elaine came over and we got her to help us look. We looked everywhere and could not find that darn thing. We kept muttering to ourselves, "There are only so many places that a 13-month old could put a remote." I mean, it's not like she could open the door or walk up the stairs and hide it elsewhere. We even gave her another remote in the hopes that she would bring that one to the same place. Nope. Finally, Duncan got home and he started looking. At long last, he lifted up the couch, and there in the back dark shadows under the couch, was the remote. How it got way back there, I have no idea! Her newest thing now is to hide things under the area rug. But at least with that you can see the lumps!

Well, I better get to bed. Have a Happy Sabbath tomorrow!

The mamma's laugh is pretty contagious, also.

See you next week-end.

Ron and I just watched the video. We are still chuckling. Calleigh just warms the heart.
