Let's Go Celtics!

This blog is coming to you live from Game 2 of the Finals. Celtics are up by 8 in the 2nd quarter.

Let's see - what's been happening? On Friday, I had another bad headache. This was the second one in the last 8 days. Before that, I hadn't had one in months. I don't feel like I'm under a lot of stress so I don't think that's what's causing it. So I'm looking at my diet as the possible culprit. There was one common denominator between the two days. Are you ready for it? Blueberries! Say it isn't so! Those were the only two days that I ate blueberries. It may be just a coincidence (hopefully). I'll have to keep tracking it.

Sabbath was a normal day. We went to church and Sabbath school as usual. In the afternoon, we stopped by Ron & Elaine's just to make sure everything was in order for their return. While I was holding Calleigh, I put my foot in the pool to feel how warm it was. It had gotten so much warmer than even a week ago and I told Duncan that as he stood there. He said, "huh, huh" and then walked back inside. The next thing I knew, he came running back outside without a shirt on and jumped right into the pool. Calleigh really didn't know what was going on and had a bit of a worried look on her face. But she eventually realized it was Daddy. We were on a tight schedule but nonetheless, we stripped Calleigh down to her diaper and she enjoyed the pool for a few minutes.

After that, we went home for Calleigh to eat quickly and then we were off to the Florida Hospital Church for a birthday celebration for my co-worker Zillur's son, Awwab's first birthday. Zillur and his wife, Faima, are from Bangladesh and in their culture, the first birthday is a very big thing. But not only that, Awwab was due to be born on May 19 (if I remember correctly) but was born on February 26. He weighed 1 pound, 9 ounces. He was in the hospital for 148 days. So you can imagine why they would especially want to celebrate his birthday. Pretty amazing story, isn't it? Because of some personal things that happened with them, they were celebrating now instead of back in February. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay too long because Calleigh needed to get home to bed and Duncan also had to pick his parents up at the airport. But we were there long enough to see Awwab and to also have some appetizers. I must say, I really liked the Bangladeshian (is that proper?) food. It was very good! So I have now eaten Thai, Ugandan, and Bangladeshian food. I'm really impressing myself!

After we got home, Duncan immediately left for the airport. He brought them back here because he went in the van so they needed to drop him off. They visited for a few minutes but were, of course, anxious to be home. With the time change, they had been up for like 20 hours.

This morning, or should I say, afternoon, we met up with them at First Watch. While we were on the way there, I told Duncan that I thought I would get something different today. That's a pretty big deal. We've been going there for roughly 7 - 8years and I would say 95% of the time I get the Fresh Fruit Crepes and the other 5% of the time, I get French Toast. So I tell Duncan that I'm really in the mood for a sandwich (which for me, that always consists of lettuce, cheese, and tomato). We get to the restaurant and as I'm walking in, there's this big sign that says "Due to the salmonella outbreak, we aren't serving tomatoes." Crushing. Do you ever really get in the mood for a certain food and then have had that dream come crashing down? That's how I felt. The one time I want something different! I ended up with Eggs Benedict which was good but not what I really wanted. Oh, well.

After lunch, we went over to Ron & Elaine's to officially go swimming this time. We had a great time with all of us in the pool including the dogs. Of course, with all the splashing, I couldn't help thinking about the recent article about the boy that "drowned" several hours after he went swimming. I had no idea that could happen. It's a pretty scary story that you can read here.

Our Internet is still having problems. We got a new modem on Friday and Duncan also got a new router and neither have fixed the problem. Our last hope is that they can send someone out to look at it but there isn't much hope with that. It looks like we'll have to make the switch to DSL before I go completely CRAZY.

In closing, I'll leave you with a picture of Duncan and Calleigh. Calleigh likes to climb behind Duncan on the couch and then he leans back against her. Then we say, "Where's Calleigh? Has anyone seen Calleigh?"

Woo hoo! The Celtics are up by 20 near the end of the 3rd quarter. No lead is safe but this is pretty exciting. Kobe is frowning.

Isn't there a special dispensation if it's over 90 degrees? I always thought there was...

Hi, She is adorable!!! No matter what she wears she is a cutie. Hey, when the weather hits in the high 90's we are all excused into getting the water just to survive here in Florida. Pastor Shawn, the little one is learning how to dunk for baptism in the near future. We don't want her to be afraid of the water. She is learning!!! Have a great night. Aunt Shirley
