Bon Voyage, Mom & Dad!

My parents (along with my Uncle Ken and Aunt Nancy) left this afternoon for a trip to Eastern Europe - specifically Hungary, Croatia, and Greece. They'll be meeting up with Ricky on Thursday. My dad will be there until June 15 and my mother until June 24! I can't help but be a little jealous. In the old days (read: before Calleigh) we would have been on this trip. But that's okay. We have Nova Scotia to look forward to. Besides, with the internet age, I can just read my mother's blog and it will almost be like I'm there except without all the hassle of travelling. If you want to catch her blog yourself, look at my favorite links and find "Melanie Brace." So to sum it up for Duncan and me, both sets of parents are in Europe right now.

I was going to make a post last night but I got distracted because we were catching up on our Grey's Anatomy backlog. We've now seen the finale. Hmm, this show just isn't as good as it used to be. I think the turning point was when Meredith tried to kill herself by drowning in the ocean (I think that was last season). Now the show is just average. And if I wanted to watch two women kissing, I'd get HBO or some other channel. Hopefully that will be short lived.

Let's see, what else has been happening since I last wrote? Sabbath was back to normal after Campmeeting last week. Someone had a birthday in Sabbath School so they brought out the cake and started singing. Sure enough, even though she was seated a couple of yards away, Calleigh saw the birthday cake (albeit fake) and started to get upset. Duncan had to take her in the back of the room and calm her down. Obviously she got over it pretty quickly as you can see in this picture. She climbed up backwards in this chair on her own. I don't know if she deliberately decided to keep her back to the crowd in case any more scary birthday cakes came out or what!

Okay, I'm going backwards time wise here but on Thursday, I ate Thai food for the second time. That does deserve a mention since I am so conservative with my eating habits. I had such a terrible headache on Thursday and by the time dinner time rolled around, I just didn't have it in me to cook. So we got Thai. It was terrible. I don't know if it was because it was to go or what but I had Pad Thai and it was about the driest thing ever. We won't be ordering from there again. Also on Thursday, I talked to Cory Reeves. I haven't talked to him in a long time. Just to recap, he, his wife Amanda, and their 12-month old baby, Noah, moved to northern Georgia in March. This is a picture of them holding newborn Calleigh. They are doing well although Noah is still having sleep challenges. He sleeps with them in the bed so they have to go to bed at like 9 pm each night. And he still nurses during the night. He's going to be 1 on June 3 so his birthday is coming up. Hopefully we'll get to see them some time soon.

The space shuttle launched on Saturday afternoon and we took a walk outside and saw a nice view of it. Calleigh even noticed the streak in the sky. Sure, it would have been nice to get a picture of this event but for some reason, we didn't. We did get a picture of her in her Baby Bjorn. Look how big she is! It holds up to 26 pounds it will still hold her her for awhile. If you compare it to when she was a just a little newborn, it's amazing how much she's grown!

Today we took a trip to Costco. That place is crazy busy. But here's a little secret. A lot of the stuff is no cheaper than Walmart. For example, buying bulk diapers at Costco cost me $0.179 a diaper. At Walmart, they're $0.149. Not too big of a difference but when you're buying 200+ diapers, it adds up. I will say that milk is definitely a good deal at Costco however. It's only $3.19 a gallon. The downside is that it's in a really weird container. Our membership expires at the end of this month. I'm not sure we'll renew it ($50) because I don't know that we use it enough.
So that pretty much catches us up to now. I'll end with a few Calleigh stories.

One of Calleigh's new things is that when you ask her "Calleigh, where's your belly?" she'll point to her belly. I asked her that yesterday and she seemed to want to take it a step further. As you can see in the first picture, she pulled down her whole outfit to try to locate her belly. It's kind of big, isn't it?? She finally did find and point to it.

Today, we had the toy box open and she walked over to it. She saw her hat sitting on top of the pile of toys and pulled it out. Now, "hat" has been one of her big words for months and she loves to say it and point to it but she's never been crazy about having to wear a hat. But for some reason she changed her mind today. She took out the hat and put it on her head. And then she crawled around the room for at least the next 15 minutes putting the hat on and then taking it off over and over again all the while saying "hat, hat, hat." It appears she likes to wear hats now.
