This mirror came with a little purse that I bought Calleigh a couple of weeks ago. She's had no interest in the purse but the mirror she seems to like. Of course, I think it was because that purse wasn't nice and cute like the little pink one Aunt Toni got her. As far as the mirror goes, I hope she won't be spending a lot of time in front of it in years to come. Nothing worse than seeing a 5-year old who thinks she's beautiful and likes to stare at herself in the mirror. But for now, it's cute!
As you know by now, last night the Celtics won the NBA Championship. We had a great time watching the game especially since we didn't have to stress out with a closely contested game. It's always fun to have friends or relatives to watch big games with.
I have watched all of the Patriots Super Bowls save one with Aunt Toni and Uncle Terry. So now we watched this game with the Copsey ladies. I'm sure we'll always remember it just like Ricky and Mom will remember waking up in the early morning hours in Crete to listen to the game and how it was won on my parent's 35th anniversary. Good times. Now if only the Patriots had won, we would be on top of the world. I still feel like throwing up when I think of the loss so I'm going to quickly change the subject.Aunt Toni and Alison left this afternoon so Shannon is officially on her own. She will be our roomie for the next 6 weeks.
She has reserved a 3-bedroom apartment for herself, Megan Rich, and David Wall that they will move into at the end of July. Yes, I said David. He has decided to move down here from Michigan after his graduation on August 3. So there will be three of us cousins down here. Hey, we may not be up north but at least we're congregating in the same place. I expect I'll be seeing more of Aunt Sherrie and Uncle Kevin...In other news, on Sunday night/Monday morning I had one of those mother quandaries. After we got done watching the b-ball game on Sunday night, I went in to Calleigh's room and noticed a particular odor that indicated she had a dirty diaper. But she was sound asleep and I didn't want to wake her up. Plus, it was 12:30 am. So I decided to just leave it. Wouldn't you know, at 5:30, she woke up. I changed the dirty diaper and she would not go back to sleep. We were up for the day. So the question is, should I have woken her up in the middle of the night or did I do the right thing in gambling by letting it be which in this case, did not pay off? Thankfully, these incidences are few and far between. I really have been so fortunate in that she very rarely wakes up between the 7:30 pm - 7:00 am window.
The walking is still rolling along. Yesterday I set her on the floor about three steps away from her lion. I didn't prompt her or anything and the next thing I knew, she had walked over to it.
Yesterday we went to Babies R Us since I needed to return something and I wanted to look for some pajamas and a sleep sack. There is a peculiar thing I have learned about pajamas for babies. Once a child hits 12-months, it's very difficult to find long sleeved pajamas at a reasonable price.
Calleigh has always slept in long sleeve zip up pajamas because we keep it very cold (as recommended) in her room. You can buy three pairs of pajamas for $9 to fit a 9-month old. But at 12-months, the price for zip ups jumps to anywhere from $11 to $20 for one pair. Absolutely crazy. Furthermore, it's even hard to find them. Fortunately I found some button up ones at Babies R Us that were two for $12 so I felt like I was getting a good deal. The buttons are a little more cumbersome than the zipper but we went with it. Here she is in her new jammies. By the way, she played with that bottle of lotion all day. Aunt Toni left it sitting on the end table and she immediately snatched it up and carried it all over the room and put it in and out of her bucket.I almost forgot - our Internet is now fixed! Happy, happy day! The guy came out on Monday morning and I knew we were off to a positive start when he started speaking English. He tested some stuff on the inside and said everything was working fine and then headed out. A short while later he came in and said that he found the problem - - there was some dirt in the little plug that connects things outside. He cleaned it up and voila! We're back in business. Duncan has a theory that when our new neighbors moved in (from Oodles of Poodles fame) they had Internet installed and since all of the wires are centralized at our unit(as we live on the end)they messed with our wires. If you trace it back, our problems started just about then. Regardless, the problem is fixed and that's what counts.

Seeing as Megan will be living in Florida, too, wouldn't it be more appropriate to say that there will be four of "you cousins" down there now?
I know, I know, she's not a first cousin, but perhaps the clarification would be beneficial!!
Glad you got your Internet back up and running.
I tell you: when Camille goes away, I have this terrible habit of staying up later.
I can see that Calleigh is the center of attention at all times. She is a beauty!!
I try each day to read up on the news of the Brace,Copsey,Wall and Case Clan. Wow, we are gaining more of the cousins. Great for you all. Maybe, the parents will see the light and realize how wonderful FLORIDA is. Welcome to Shannon and David!! I don't know the other person, sorry. Just got back from being with Aunt Mary and we had a wonderful time with Cher's boys. I taught them to play Skip-bo and they love the game. The first game we played we played for money. They asked if this was not gambling? No, "I replied, this is making money as a project for Sabbath School." I could hear Cherry and Mary laughing and shaking their heads. I wonder why?? We had a great time and only played for pennies and of course I won the game. Gave it all back folks. The boys love hearing my stories that I tell and having me play games with them. At least I have someone that likes me!!
Calleigh will soon be walking a couple blocks and taking up walking to keep in shape and losing weight. What an exercise for such a small baby. Making her walk -- how sad, ha.
Okay, have a great day and hope you enjoy my little chats with you all. Love, Aunt Shirley
I am happy for David, Shannon and Megan, HOWEVER, this does NOT bode well for getting the Grodacks back to the Northeast. What gives?
You know you will be seeing the Cases this winter.
Can't wait for a couple of weeks when we will all have a chance to be together for the big weekend.
