"Look at My New Sneakers Mommy"

Okay, so she didn't actually say that but I'm sure that's what she was thinking! Now that Calleigh is walking, I've had to start buying shoes. Sure, she's had a few pairs that she would wear to church (not all at the same time!) but those were really for looks not for walking. So have you ever seen the prices of baby shoes?? Some of the prices are outrageous. Case in point - - Shannon was shopping at an outdoor store this afternoon and found some really cool "hiking" type shoes for babies. They were priced at $44. Now, keep in mind that a baby will outgrow these shoes in approximately 3 months. I think I'll take a pass! Instead, I found a nice pair of sneakers at Payless for $5. Shannon put them on her and she walked around in them just fine. They will probably make their official debut up in Michigan this weekend.

I know I haven't posted in a few days and Duncan was afraid people would think I was depressed or something. I can assure you that isn't the case. I've been busy! As many of you know, my dear cousin Rad is getting married up near Detroit on Sunday. We're flying up on Friday morning and will be returning on Monday. I'm so looking forward to it since it's been since the last family wedding two years ago that the family was all together - - now that certain members don't go to Nova Scotia. Anywho, I've had to do some shopping to look for a dress to wear to the wedding and this task is quite burdensome when you're totting around a 13-month old. Last night I decided I just needed to leave her home and go out on my own. I put her to bed at 7:30 and then rushed off to the mall. Of course, the mall closes at 9:00 so I was basically rushing around like a mad woman. I don't really care for shopping when I'm rushed and needing to find something specific. Plus, it doesn't help when you don't know exactly what size you are. I'm still about seven pounds away from what I weighed pre-Calleigh. Thankfully I did find something at Dillards. Sadly, when I returned home, Calleigh was still awake tossing and turning in her crib. Not sure what that was about but she finally got to sleep. Please note, Duncan was home while I was shopping. When he first read this account, he was afraid people would think I just left her in her crib home alone and took off!

Speaking of her having trouble sleeping...this afternoon I put her in her crib for her usual afternoon nap. For some reason, every now and then she decides she doesn't want to take either her morning or afternoon nap. I read somewhere that if you put them down for a nap and after an hour they're still up, you should just get them out of the crib and write off the nap. In this case, she spent a lot of time just sitting there and playing with a few things in the crib. She wasn't upset or anything. But then in about the last 5-10 minutes, she started crying. I waited it out a bit and then realized that I might as well throw in the towel. So I open the door and there she is standing in the crib with tears streaming down her cheeks. She was obviously upset about something. When I get right next to the crib, through her sobs, she starts saying "Hi" and waving. She would do two sobs, then wave, sob, then say "Hi", sob, etc. So basically, despite the fact that she was upset, she still wanted to be polite and give me a proper greeting. It was too cute.

In other news, Ron & Elaine came with us to church on Sabbath which was a real treat as usual. Cradle Roll was out of control though. There are just too many kids for the size classroom we're in. Fortunately that is being remedied starting next Sabbath. We're moving to a bigger room. Calleigh was dressed in her 4th of July dress since we won't be there next Sabbath for her to wear it. We did a mini photo shoot on the lawn after church, hence this picture.

I guess that is pretty much all that is of public interest. Oh, I do have to make a confession. There just might possibly be some Mountain Dew in our refrigerator. As it turns out, my headaches have continued. They haven't been as intense the last few days but on Saturday, it was back with a vengeance and I had to drink some more Dewski. Believe me, I really don't want to get hooked back on it (not that I think I am) because I don't want to gain weight. But these headaches can be a real bear.

Finally, I'll close here with a picture of Calleigh at my computer. Apparently she is going to be taking after her parents because she LOVES computers. If I ever leave my laptop screen open, she makes an immediate beeline to it and starts pressing as many keys as she can. So if you ever get a very strange email from me, you know who to blame!

Enough of the Dewskis! There are other ways to solve your headache problems.

We'll see you in a couple of days!

I would love to hear your other suggestions! Keep in mind, no baths or medications other than Tylenol (which doesn't work). So what else do you have??

Prayer!!

No, just kidding (although that can be a part of any treatment, of course!).

How long will it be until you can take a bath again? You can also check this site out for natural remedies.

Or what about charcoal? That always seems to help with various ailments, though I'm not sure I've ever heard it used for headaches.
