Grandma and Grandpa got Calleigh a new swing for their yard.
She used it for the first time over the weekend and had a blast! In fact, she didn't want to stop and get out. When we finally had to tell her that was it, she was done with the swing, she started crying and Duncan had to comfort her. Awhhhh. This picture isn't the best since it's cut off but I love the look on her face! We've had a nice weekend and beginning to the week, albeit a hot one. But then, what can you expect in Florida in July, right? On Sabbath, the Grodacks (that would be us) went to Forest Lake as usual while the ladies (that would be Shannon and Megan) went to Markham Woods church which is a little ways down the road. They want to check out other churches to see what they have to offer (you can decide what it is they're looking for!). The service was pretty uneventful save for the hat incident. As soon as we sat down in the back pew, Calleigh immediately spotted a lady two rows up wearing a hat. Naturally, she felt the need to point the hat out and say hat...repeatedly. Thankfully, everyone was singing and it drowned it out. But then, once the singing was over and we were all getting ready (very quietly) to kneel for prayer, she started yelling hat again just about as loud as she could. I couldn't get out of there fast enough!
After our afternoon naps, Ron & Elaine buzzed over with a bike for Shannon to borrow. She's been inspired by Duncan, Ron, & Elaine riding many miles on Sunday mornings. She decided she needs to practice a little before riding with the "big boys." Duncan, Calleigh, and I then rode over (in the car) to Ron & Elaine's for Calleigh to try the swing and give Calleigh some yard time. As I've mentioned, she loves being outside so it's especially exciting for her to be in a yard to explore. She found a little unripened green orange off Ron & Elaine's tree that she especially seemed to enjoy. Try as she might, she couldn't get a good bite out of it.
One of the other interesting things we did late Sabbath afternoon was a video chat. Megan apparently does them all the time with her siblings. It really is pretty neat. You and the person you are talking to both have video cameras on your computer so you can talk to each other through the computer while looking at each other at the same time. So Megan was talking to her sister Ashley and of course, Calleigh was very intrigued with this. She loves the computer anyway and this just added to it. She sat on Megan's lap and just looked and looked at the screen with Ashley talking to her. Duncan then ended up contacting Cory and had a video chat with him as well. Mom, I sure wish you could get this feature to work on your computer because you would LOVE being able to do this. The highlights of Sunday were going to First Watch and going over to Ron & Elaine's for supper and the pool in the late afternoon.
So today, I was scratching my head trying to think of something to do with Calleigh. I hate to be couped up in the house all day but yet, it's 95 degrees out so that limits the outdoor options. We already went to the mall on Friday and besides, I hate to go there again since I could be tempted to buy stuff. I was thinking that they really need to build an indoor play center. But alas, no such thing exists that I could think of so I finally just took her to the playground down the road. Of course, we were the only crazy ones to be there in the heat. In other news, the three new roommates have finally figured out who is going to take which bedroom in their apartment. There is a big bedroom downstairs with a bathroom and large walk-in closet. Then upstairs, there are two smaller bedrooms (one bigger than the other). The idea was that they would just pick names out of a hat but then they started thinking that the person with the downstairs bedroom should perhaps pay more rent than the other two. But what would that amount be? Finally, with my assistance, they determined that the downstairs person would pay $20 more than the bigger upstairs bedroom and that person would pay $20 than the person with the smallest bedroom. And then Megan said she wanted the smallest bedroom, Shannon said she would take the other smaller one, and that left David with the downstairs one that he said he wanted. So it all worked out perfectly. Now they just have to figure out who will be in charge of paying the bills. Oh boy...
