Timlin = Game Over

Last night sure was a double whammy. Not only did the Sox lose Game 2 of the playoffs but we stayed up until 1:35 am to watch it happen. And I would like to know if there is a single person in this country who didn't know that the game was over when we saw Mike Timlin trot out to the mound in the bottom of the 11th. In fact, we were so confident in the inevitable loss that David decided to go home as soon as he saw Timlin. But hey, at least we're going back to Fenway with a split so we can't complain about that. The whole weird thing is that once again, David was here watching the game and just like the previous two games we've watched together, the game went into extra innings and the Sox lost. What are the odds of that? It really appears that David and I aren't meant to watch games together or something.

Today we had plans to go up to Mount Dora to meet my friend Karri for brunch. But because of the late hour last night, we decided to re-schedule the outing until the end of the month. I really wanted to get in a nap and I knew that if we went up there, Calleigh would fall asleep in the car on the way back and then that would be it. Once we got home, she would be up for the rest of the day and there would be no nap for Mommy. So basically we ended up just having a quiet day at home. Right now we're watching the Patriots stink it up against the Chargers. Shannon popped in for a little while after work but she was too tired to stay very long.

Going back to Friday, Calleigh and I hit up Target and the consignment store to get some gifts for my friend Wanda who is due to have a baby girl on October 28. However, she's going to be induced a week early because the placenta is aging. It's so much fun shopping for baby girl clothes! And very hard not to overspend.

After nap time, Duncan, Calleigh, Ron, Elaine, and I took a trip to the "pumpkin patch" to get some pumpkins. Calleigh had a good time trying to pick up and carry the pumpkins around. She was even successful a few times with some of the smaller ones. We bought a big pumpkin and then let Calleigh pick out a little one for herself.

Calleigh has some new things that she's doing/saying. One of her new things is that she says "tired" and then she'll either lie down or rest her head on something.
She does this pretty frequently and even during times when she's just woken up from a nap so I know she's not really tired. I guess she just likes to pretend! Here's a picture of her taking a rest on a pile of animals she put on her chair.

She's also started using words such as "up", "down", "open", and "close". In fact, "open" has become one of her favorites. She'll stand in front of the fridge and repeat "open" over and over as she bangs on the door.

This evening (yes, right before bed time), Duncan and I were playing with Calleigh upstairs. I would stay in her room while Duncan took Calleigh out to hide in the hallway. I would open the door and say "Where's Calleigh" and Duncan would come running in with Calleigh flying through the air, with her laughing all the way, as she would land on my chest as I fell back (softly). She loved it! As soon as she would get off my chest, she would run back to Duncan and say "Again!" So we repeated that an innumerable amount of times. When and where she learned what "again" means, I have no idea.

Well, Timlin got majorly squeezed. In the top of the inning, Kotsay was called out on strikes on the exact same pitch that Timlin walked the first batter on. And then the next hitter, when he went to 2-0 - both of those pitches were strikes as well. Hence Ferrill being thrown out.

It was ridiculous and I don't blame Timlin entirely. At least, of all the pictures, he is probably least likely to be affected by it. With a younger pitcher, maybe it would have been more traumatic to bounce back from.

My dad's name is Duncan! And if I ever had a boy that was to be his name. However God gave me just one kid, a wonderful girl... so maybe a grandson could be called Duncan (but it better be a looon while cause my Kelly's only 7!)

Stumbled onto you through your "Nova Scotia" tag on Blogger.

Have fun!
