It had been almost three weeks since our baby monitor mysteriously disappeared. We looked every where for it and as I said in a previous blog, I was convinced someone had broken in and stolen it from beneath our noses. Well, as it turns out, it didn't quite happen that way afterall. Yesterday Duncan was down on the floor in our bedroom roughhousing with Calleigh and what does he spot under the bed but the monitor. I'm telling you that I had looked under there at least five times. It was right at the end of the bed but in the corner and that must have somehow made it more difficult to see although it's hard to believe. At any rate, I'm just so glad we have it back.
Right now I'm sitting here watching the Red Sox/Angels playoff game all by my lonesome. Duncan left yesterday afternoon for a Cerner conference out in Kansas City and he'll be gone until Wedesnday. It is pretty lonely without him around as I'm sure anyone whose spouse isn't at home can attest. The only small positive (which isn't much) is that I don't have to cook. In fact, I didn't even have to make a meal at all today since Calleigh and I were invited over to Ron and Elaine's for dinner.

So Calleigh got to spend some time in her swing and playing around in some dirt/sand out in the yard. We think she needs a sandbox! Elaine made her specialty ratatouille and we had cream puffs for dessert. Calleigh went bonkers over them. She called them "cookies" and she would stuff them whole into her mouth. Granted, they're small but it was quite something. No sooner would she have it in her mouth than she'd be putting her hand out and saying "cookies" as she was chewing. She came up with "cookies" all on her own. I think she may have gotten it from a book I was reading to her about a mouse that sneaks around the house on Christmas Eve and sees the plate of cookies left out for Santa.
Backing up a few days, we had a nice Sabbath. Gary, Mary, and Kathleen went to Forest Lake Church with us where we met up with Shannon, Megan, and David. Afterwards we came back to our place for lunch.

I did take my usual nap and during that time, Duncan, David, and Megan went on the hunt for alligators. David has an obsession with seeing alligators. Why, I'm not clear but he's been talking about seeing some for weeks. So Duncan took them to some places to see if they could see some but all they came up with was this warning sign.
Uncle Terry arrived in the afternoon on his motorcyle to visit with the Spencers. It was his birthday and he, Shannon, and Megan went to the Cheesecake Factory that evening to celebrate. Meanwhile, the Spencers treated us to pizza here at home.
Sunday was certainly a busy day and of course, it didn't end on a high note. The Spencers left in the morning to catch their Disney cruise. Duncan played tennis with Shannon, came home and showered, and then we took off to the food sale at the ABC. I was hoping for a bigger sale but we did get some cases of food for about $10 off regular price. We then went to First Watch for breakfast with Ron, Elaine, Shannon, and Terry. David is now working on Sundays and Megan was sleeping in so they didn't join us.
The first game of our doublheader started at 4:15 with the Patriots and San Francisco. Terry, Megan, and Shannon came over and David arrived here straight from work at about 5:30.

Duncan was not with us as he left shortly after three to catch his flight to Kansas City. It was a pretty good game with the Pats being victorious. But I find that I'm just not as into it as I would be if Brady were playing. I was in the kitchen cleaing up and stuff while the game was going on and I didn't feel like I was really missing anything. Somehow the excitement factor has greatly diminished for me. The Red Sox, however, are another story. I don't want to miss a pitch of the playoffs. And there were plenty of those last night in the 12-inning game. The crowd at our house slowly diminished as the game progressed. First Terry left - really before the game even began - because he was on his motorcyle and wanted to get back and watch it at home. Then Megan left in the third inning, Shannon in the sixth, and that left David and me. The last time David and I watched a game together it didn't end well in extra innings and it was the same thing again. Basically, I had to tell David not to come back tonight (not that he was planning to anyway).

Calleigh has been doing great. She has a couple of new bruises. She's so active that it's hard to keep up with her and she'll take spills here and there. She got a little bruise on her face on Sabbath when she fell into the rocking chair in the training chapel at church. She has another bruise on her leg that I have no clue where it came from. In other news about her person, she's getting some new upper teeth. She has four upper teeth right now (and two on the bottom). The new teeth are one on each side but they don't appear to be right next to the teeth she already has. I guess that's how it can happen. Fortunately the new teeth don't seem to be bothering her or anything.
In closing, here's a little video that I took today. The scoop with what she's doing is that she's started saying "all done" whenever a song that is playing on her CD ends. She does it after every song. It's funny because when I was taping her doing this today (I took footage after other songs), she was yawning in each situation but she manages to stay awake each time to say her "all done!"

Corey,
You are not ready to trade in that vehicle for a van yet? Where you don't have to reach into the middle to put your child into the car seat? Cute video! She's quite the talker. Our son has yet to utter his first real word! :)
Sure, I'm ready to trade the car in for a van any day! But when I consider that we have no car payments, I just can't bring myself to do it. It's not that bad yet. Are you guys going to be headed this way some time?
