My camera dropped out of my pocket when I was sitting in a chair and this is what's happened. Not good. It fell two feet to a carpeted floor. I can't believe that's what cooked it considering that the camera has been flung to a tile floor by a toddler (not Calleigh) and still worked fine. I'm going to take it somewhere to get an estimate to repair it (considering it's barely 6 months old) but my thought is that we'll be in the market for a new one. Duncan is recommending that I get a camera that's shock proof up to five feet and I have to concur that it would be a wise move. In the meantime, I'm going to resurrect the old camera. The picture quality isn't as good and it doesn't take videos but it will have to do.
Let's see. What have we been up to? Well, we've definitely had cooler weather this week and it's been very nice - - although the mornings have been quite chilly. It's been in the high 40's when we get up and went to a high of about 65 on Tuesday although it's been in the 70' during the day since then. I've gone through Calleigh's closet and officially retired many of her summer things that are getting too small anyway.
Yesterday, Calleigh and I met Lauren and Caroline at Monkey Joe's for some fun. Monkey Joe's is sortof like Chuckie Cheese I guess you could say although I've never been to Chuckie Cheese. Monkey Joe's has all these big blow up castles and forts that kids can jump around in. It just recently opened about 3 minutes from our house so it's quite convenient. With a coupon I had, it was only $4 plus tax so it was a pretty good deal. Calleigh and Caroline had a great time although I think Calleigh got a little frustrated at times. It was often very difficult to stay standing when you were walking around in the blow up thingys because they were so slippery (she was in socks as required). She finally figured out to just crawl. The thing that Calleigh loved the best was the little stuffed animal monkeys that were for sale. They had long arms and legs and the arms could be put around your neck and Velcro shut. So Calleigh took one off the rack and put it on and she insisted on wearing it for the rest of the time she was there playing. I was afraid we would have to buy it (although at $6.99, I'm not sure why I didn't) but I was actually able to put it back without a tantrum. I sure wish I had a picture of the monkey but alas, it was here at Monkey Joe's that the camera incident happened halfway through the outing so no such luck.
So neat thing about Lauren - - she's pregnant too! And of all days, yes, she's due on May 17 (like Camille). How crazy is that?? Our kids will obviously be very close in age because Caroline was born April 6.
This morning I dropped Calleigh off at Grandma and Grandpa's while I went to my doctor's appointment. I had to provide a bunch of medical history and then it was on to the doctor. Oh, and I did get weighed and I lost two pounds since last time. I haven't been vomiting but sometimes I don't really have much of an appetite so I'm not all that surprised. Anyway, the woman doctor was extremely nice (which is what I've been looking for) so I may end up choosing her to do the delivery. There are five doctors in the practice. I got to listen to the heartbeat which is awesome. Of course, I was on pins and needles as she was searching for it. If she hadn't found it, it wouldn't necessarily have meant anything as it can be difficult to locate at this early stage. But when I heard it, ahhh, what a beautiful sound. It was at 160 beats per minute. I also asked the doctor about whether they schedule c-sections for weekends and she said no. So any thoughts on scheduling it for Sunday, May 17 have been retired. My next appointment is November 10 when I'll be exactly 12 weeks. I'll have another ultrasound which is especially geared at looking for signs of Down's Syndrome and I'll get all the blood work done. Can hardly wait for that part!
Tomorrow Cory, Amanda, and Noah will be arriving to stay here for the weekend. They are on their way down to Miami for some work related stuff on Monday but are stopping here beforehand. It works out very well because we have the 7th annual Pumpkin Fest at the Isidro's on Saturday night. We can hardly wait to see Noah. We haven't seen them since they moved to Georgia in March.
So speaking of Noah, I've been showing Calleigh pictures of Santa Claus and telling her that his name is Santa (sidebar - - I'm not sure that we're actually going to tell Calleigh he's real. My parents always told us he was fake so they wouldn't have to worry about breaking our little hearts somewhere down the road. We'll see.) On Tuesday we were browsing around Linens & Things (another sidebar - - they're going out of business and everything is 10 - 30% off right now. I figure that come December, it will be up to 75%. Good deals!) and there was a picture of Santa on something. I asked her who it was and she shouted "Noah!!" Apparently the beard has thrown her off since she has a picture of a bearded Noah next to the ark in one of her books. When we got home, I showed her the picture of Derek and Tyler with Santa that's on the fridge and once again, "Noah!!" I guess we're sticking with that for now.
We have a new little thing we started doing with her that she loves. It's called a "Calleigh sandwich." Before she goes to bed, I hold her with her facing me. Then Duncan comes up and hugs both of us so that Calleigh's in the middle - - hence the sandwich. Now when I tell Calleigh that it's time to go to bed, she screams "Calleigh samwich!" And typically she wants at least three sandwiches before we head up the stairs. Tonight she even asked for a Dewey sandwich so we brought Dewey in on the big hug.
Have a good evening. We're about to turn on "The Office." Good stuff.

You should get a camera like Camille's - that can be dropped from ten feet up without any damage, and can be taken 30 feet into the water.
By the way: it seems like you're having doctors appointments more frequently than Camille. She doesn't go until November 13, or something like that, which will have been about a month since her last one, I think! I must freely admit that I'm nervous about everything going right!
Shawn,
Don't be nervous! It does no good and could make Camille nervous. As you may or may not recall, I was 41years old with my one and only pregnancy. Just be healthy and know that God is in control...I know you know that. I know miscarriage SEEMS to be more prevalent than it used to (two of my girls have had at least one), but worrying or even considering a bad outcome can take away some of the joy I know you feel.
Thanks for the encouragement, Sue! That's good to keep in mind. I haven't really been making Camille nervous, I don't believe, with my consternation.
