See You Morning

This is one of Calleigh's newest phrases. Every night as I take Calleigh up to bed, Duncan always tells her, "See you in the morning. Can't wait until tomorrow." So yesterday as Calleigh is playing with her baby, I hear her say as she places baby on the floor, "Night night baby. See you morning." And as I was nursing her tonight, she stopped nursing, started waving her hand in front of my chest and said "Bye bye boobie. See you morning." Well, I guess she was right. But back to the baby...she's really been playing with baby a lot the last few days and baby has come on all of our trips with us. She just loves to pretend that baby is going to bed. She gets out her changing mat from my diaper bag and puts baby on that and then finds something to cover her up with. Today I asked her if baby had prayed to Jesus before she went to bed and Calleigh got her off the mat and started saying "Knees, knees," and put baby in a sortof kneeling position (really more like lying on her stomach but I know what she was trying to do!). As soon as I said "Amen," baby was back on her mat.

She's also picked up some other phrases as well and actually seems to use them at appropriate times. Yesterday as we went on our walk to get the mail, we saw four airplanes during the course of the stroll. Airplanes are still a VERY big deal for her. Every time she's outside, she has her head tilted up in the air looking for an airplane. As I we walked back inside I repeated that we saw four airplanes!! Holy cow!! That was a lot of airplanes. So then, this afternoon as I took off her crocs at Ron & Elaine's, I exclaimed to her that her feet were filthy dirty from being outside. Out of the blue, she says "Holy cow!" Of course, Ron and Elaine were quite surprised by this as they didn't know I had told her the phrase yesterday.

One of the other things that we're teaching her is how to count. She can count to ten although it's usually with some prompting. You say "one" she'll say "two." You say "two", she'll say "three," and so on up to ten. Occasionally you can say to her "Calleigh, let's do your counting" and she'll start with, say five, and just start saying all the numbers up to ten. But she's also started to outsmart us. When we do the counting and she finally gets to ten, we'll clap and say good job. Now sometimes when we say "Let's do counting" she'll just say "ten" as if she knows she's going to get clapping when she says ten so why not just say it right away! And then today, I saw something that was really neat. We were at Lowe's and she was standing there looking at some things that she called buttons. In reality, they were circles that were examples of different kind of finishes for bathroom fixtures. As she quickly touched each one, I heard her saying "two, three, four, five." So maybe she's getting it. Even though we usually just say the numbers, I'm trying to also show her books with pictures of the numbers themselves and showing her how many things equal each number.

We were in Lowe's this afternoon with Duncan because we have a major tub crisis. The things on our tub spout is rusted or something so that you can't push it down to take a bath. It's permanently stuck on shower. As I've mentioned in the past, I MUST have my baths and this has been devastating the last few days. I finally bit the bullet and took a bath in the guest bathroom last night but it's not nearly as good because it's a tiny tub compared to the master tub. That was only after I tried filling my tub with water from a shower the night before. I finally got sick of waiting for it to fill up after about twenty minutes and went in with whatever was in there. Barely anything was submerged so it left much to be desired. The sad thing is that Duncan didn't find the right spout so I think he's going to have to order it online. Here's a picture of Duncan and Calleigh trying to find it.

On Wednesday, I took Calleigh to a new playground that I had spotted the other day on 436 not too far from Altamonte Hospital. The thing that was very exciting about this place is that a lot of the equipment was surrounded by good old fashioned sand that Calleigh took an immediate liking to. She picked up sand and carried it to the grass. She put sand on the swings. And as you can see in this video, for some reason, she even put sand down her shirt. Next time we go, I'll definitely bring her buckets and shovels. The only bad thing is that she had sand all over her when we left and when I changed her later, she even had a bunch of it in her diaper. Oh well.

This morning went over Ron & Elaine's so Calleigh could play outside and we also had lunch there. Elaine is doing some major yard modifications with adding new plants, putting in rocks, etc. Calleigh got to help Grandma by using the hammer on some plastic inserts that keep the rocks lined up. But I don't think that was quite as exciting as picking up all the new little white rocks and occasionally trying to put them in her mouth.

Since it's Sabbath, I'll skip the Red Sox commentary on last night's happenings....
