Our New Toy

So I think I've mentioned on here several times that I wanted to get a treadmill. Well, that has FINALLY come to fruition. We were going to get a used one but Duncan really wanted to get one that has an incline and those are harder to come by used. Plus, we didn't want to lose out on the warranty that comes with a new one so we decided to just go ahead and buy it new. Duncan got it last night and just finished putting it together. We're good to go! It's pretty neat because it has all these different "mountain trails" you can select and the treadmill will go up and down as you are walking as though to simulate an actual hike. It also has iFit capabilities which are little cards you insert into the treadmill and they provide you with programs geared toward weight loss, general fitness, etc. And finally, it has a docking station with speakers for your iPod. I'm very excited to start an exercise regimen. Due to lack of space in our house, we have it set up in our garage. It comes with a built in fan and we'll put up a box fan too in order to stay cool.

The girls are doing well. Calleigh passed her runny nose to Aubree on Thursday last week. Aubree only had the runny nose like Calleigh and fortunately it didn't affect her sleeping at all - - although one night I had to clear out her nose in the middle of the night. Calleigh didn't get her first cold until she was over a year old and I was proclaiming how good the boobie juice was. Obviously Aubree will not reach that same milestone but I suppose Calleigh didn't have an older sister breathing in her face and sucking her binkys like Aubree has experienced so that is probably the difference. Anyway, both of them are over it for the most part so no biggie.

Last night was the first Patriots game of the season so it was a big night. We didn't start watching the game until after 9:00 as we were waiting for David to get here from a basketball refereeing class he's taking. We don't mind delaying the start because then we can buzz through the commercials. Anyway, he, Yully, and Aunt Sherrie were here with us to watch the game and I, for one, was quite stressed at the end. But all ended well so happy times.

Duncan has been doing a great job being in charge of putting Calleigh to bed these days. Last week he started reading "My Bible Friends" in order and she has definitely been enjoying them. Her attention span has increased substantially just over the last few months. Calleigh is a big "reader" and will sit in her crib for sometimes more than an hour after she goes to bed just looking at her books and "reading" the stories. She either repeats the words that she knows from the stories or she makes things up based on the pictures. Anyway, I was standing outside her door this evening and I could hear her saying in a very loud voice, "Treason! Treason!" This was apparently from the story of Joash when the queen was trying to dethrone him. The stories are sinking in!

Yesterday I was folding laundry and Calleigh was sitting on the bed. She says to me "We should have Jesus in our hearts." I'm not sure who told her this but it might have been Aunt Sherrie. She then proceeded to tell me that Jesus talks to her. I asked her what he says and she said, "He say, 'Hi, how are you today?'" And most likely, her response would be "I'm okay." That is by far, Calleigh's favorite phrase. That and "You okay?" She's always concerned.

Aubree is growing every day although she doesn't seem to be putting on the ounces/pounds quite as fast as she was. She weighed just a touch under 12.5 pounds when I weighed her on Sunday. We got to her 4-month appointment next Tuesday. She's definitely giggling when I put face under her chin to tickle her. I'm going to try and post a video at some point...It's also amazing how attentive she is. When we were at Sea World and going through the shark exhibit, she was unflinchingly staring at the sharks swimming. And then today when we were at Story Time, she was incredibly focused on the bear that the teacher was throwing up into the air.

Okay, I have to close out here. I need to get a good night sleep so I'm ready for my workout tomorrow night.
