Four Months

Aubree turned four months on Saturday so yesterday we went in for her doctor's appointment. Since I was already going to be there, I had scheduled for Calleigh to get her flu shot at the same time so I didn't have to make more than one visit. I kept thinking about how I should do it. Should I tell her ahead of time that she was going to get the shot (because she usually asks where we are going and sometimes will even ask if she's seeing the doctor when I say that's where we are going. I did NOT want to lie to her and say "no") and risk her having a big fit? As it turned out, she didn't really ask if she was going to see the doc so I didn't have to answer her one way or another. As it also turned out, she didn't actually get the shot. She was able to do the nasal spray (you have to be two). Of course, it's not like she exactly liked that either. She was screaming like crazy and Elaine and I had to hold all her limbs down. But as soon as the deed was done, I told her we would go get an ice cream cone and that cheered her up quite considerably, you could say! Anyway, it appears that the spray was greatly needed. The place was packed with kids and the doctor said that the flu was already out in full force. I've already decided that I'm going to suck up my fear of needles and just got the flu shot. I can only imagine how horrible it would be to get really sick with two small kids (sidebar - - I experienced the flu five years ago and I seriously wanted to die. It was the worst thing ever). I figure that with all the stuff I've been through with child birth, a flu shot can't be that bad. It was interesting though - - the pediatrician's office offered me the nasal spray for $45. So it was between that and getting the shot for free through the hospital. I did think about it for a minute but then I decided to save my $45. I won't be getting the shot for a couple of weeks though.

As far as Aubree went, she checked out very well. She weighed exactly 13 pounds which dropped her down to the 40th percentile from the 50th she was at two months. Unfortunately I don't have Calleigh's figures for comparison but I know that at four months, Calleigh had gone down to the 10th percentile and I started freaking out that I was losing my milk. I'm very glad not to be going through that again. For length, she measured 25 inches which is the 75th percentile. I didn't get the measurement for the head but it was the 90th percentile. Clearly, I produce babies with large heads.

Now that Aubree is four months, we brought the exersaucer in from the garage. She doesn't last more than a few minutes in it but she does reach out her little hands to play with the toys on it. My favorite part is looking at her tiny feet bouncing off the floor. Calleigh is clearly enjoying the exersaucer because she's in it all the time. Of course, it's so low down that she has to sit in it with her legs all crunched up underneath it.

Today Matthias (friend from Texas) brought over his kids while Stephanie went to a meeting. Calleigh played with Sophia (4) and Lukas (2) for about and hour and half and it was a great time. She didn't quite get it though - - she kept wanting Sophia to read her a book and Sophia kept telling her she couldn't read! So Matthias and I had to step in.

I've started a new exercise program. I joined a website that acts as your personal trainer and they set me up with a 12-week program. I'm doing weights here at home 3 days a week and then doing cardio on my treadmill about 4 or 5 times a week. I started it last Wednesday and so far it's going well. Obviously I've had challenges in the past sticking with things like this but I'm determined to make it work this time. I think the fact that there is an end point helps. Not that I'll just stop when the 12 weeks are up but it gives me more of a goal. I took "before" pictures and I hate to look at them but it does help in keeping me motivated. Plus, I suppose the worse they are, the more exciting it will be to see the "after" ones, right? I still have about nine pounds (out of 32) to go to get to pre-Aubree weight and four more than that to get to pre-Calleigh. But obviously my goal is get healthier too.

I know there is more I could write here but now that I've got the exercise going on, I need my sleep. So that's it for now.

Charlie and I just hired a third legal assistant for the office. Turns out she is a certified personal trainer as well! I am hopeful that I will be getting some tips tailored to my problem areas! We will see!!! Aubree is getting so big--wish I could see you all.
