We have had a nice long weekend. It started on Sabbath with a trip to campmeeting. We found Calleigh's class and as you can imagine, there were a lot more kids in it than usual.
Doug (my boss) was there with his 2-year old son Cole (who looks like he's four - tall parents) so we sat next to them. Cole is very shy apparently. Before Sabbath School started, Calleigh went over to him and he immediately curled up on the floor as you can see in this picture. Anyway, the program involved a lot of singing with props. We sang some old favorites like "This Little Light of Mine" and "Wide, Wide as the Ocean" among others. After that was over, we went to the Collegiate/Young Adult service at the church as opposed to the gym with the main speaker. I knew Calleigh wouldn't last without a mother's room. Let's just say that the service we saw was quite something. And I'll leave it at that. We did get to see Uncle Kevin who had flown down on Friday to help Uncle Terry drive the motor home back to New Hampshire. So that was a nice treat.
In the afternoon, Duncan spent quite a bit of time having Calleigh walk around with her hanging on with one hand or sometimes just a few fingers. She is doing very well. It's so cute watching her take the very awkward steps.
Yesterday afternoon we paid a visit to the Altamonte Mall. With Duncan's job change, he doesn't have to wear suits every day so he needed more business casual clothes. We took Calleigh to play in the play area at the mall and immediately, three little girls (probably around five years old) came up to Calleigh and started playing with her and following her wherever she crawled. I guess little girls love real babies! Calleigh just soaked up the attention.
Duncan went to his Bible study in the evening and Calleigh and I went to Publix. I was trying to get some inspiration because IT HAS STARTED. And when I say IT, I mean the picky eating stage. Remember when she ate everything? I'm afraid those days are now over. She no longer likes beets (although who can blame her), pimento cheese spread, pancakes, or any type of bread. How can she have Brace blood and not like bread? It doesn't seem possible. So I bought some bagels and cream cheese and attempted to give her that this morning. She turned up her nose and wouldn't touch it even when I ate it myself and said "Mmmm" with a big smile. All I ask is that she at least taste it before she decides she doesn't like it but apparently that is indeed too much to ask. I knew this stage was probably going to happen. I guess I should just be happy that there is still a lot she does like to eat - - at least for now. Incidentally, while we were at Publix, she got a balloon and while we were still at the register, the inevitable happened. She popped the balloon. She just kind of sat there for a good 30 seconds. And then she started bawling. We did get her a new balloon and then all was well once again.
I forgot to mention that Duncan went to Home Depot and came back with a big new purchase. We have a bunch of toys now and it can get a little frustrating when they're all over the floor and we have no place to put them. So Duncan bought a big new plastic chestlike storage container thing that all of the new toys can fit into. We had to do some rearranging of furniture and such but we got it to fit. Once Calleigh's in bed, all the toys go into that and then you can't even tell that a child lives here (well, except for the giant stroller practically blocking the door.) Before we put anything in it, Calleigh had a good time playing in it.
Duncan ended up going to work today which was a good thing. I'm not sure that he would have enough PDO for Nova Scotia otherwise. He didn't work too long though because we went over the Isidro's at five to have a cook out. Amy (who works for AHS) and her husband Karis just had a baby Kaleb who was born 6 weeks early in mid April. He now weighs 7 lbs, 10 ounces which is only 5 ounces less than Calleigh weighed at birth but I swear he was the tiniest thing. It's amazing how quickly you forget how small they are. He slept the entire time we were there and Amy says he sleeps most of the day. He has a two year old brother Zachary. Calleigh didn't spend too much time with him as he was busy walking all over the place although they did both enjoy a little chicken that does the Chicken Dance. By the way, Calleigh ate a burger, a whole banana, and some apple slice with caramel for dessert. Sounds like what a regular person would eat, doesn't it? When she has something she likes, she sure does like to eat!

In closing, I'll leave you with this picture of Calleigh with her eyes closed. I had been taking a bunch of pictures of her with the flash and apparently she was starting to anticpate the light flashing in her eyes. Each time I would point the camera at her, she would close her eyes, than open them to look at me, and then close them again. I guess she was trying to avoid the flashing light! So of course, I ended up just taking the picture while her eyes were closed because I thought it was cute.
