Prayers

This week's "Out Little Friend" had a story about a little boy whose grandmother told him a story about how she lost her watch.  They said a prayer and the grandmother eventually found the watch.  I think I read Calleigh the story on Wednesday morning.  On Thursday morning, we were talking about how I had lost my camera and a short time later, out of the blue, Calleigh says "Mom, we should say a quick (so funny how she used the word 'quick') prayer about your camera."  I told her it was a great idea and then next thing I know Calleigh's praying..."Dear Jesus, help us to find Mommy's green camera.  Oh, and it's at Papa & Gigi's.  Amen."  I guess she wanted to add that last part in case Jesus didn't remember where I had lost it.  I assured her that when Papa and Gigi got back from Ireland, they would look some more for the camera.  Right Papa & Gigi?  Has anyone looked behind the piano?  Just a thought.  Anyway, a little later I was in the bathroom and I could see Calleigh standing in front of my full length mirror.  And then I hear her saying "Dear Jesus, please help us find the camera.  And thank you that I go poo poo and pee pee on the potty and that I get M&M's, and ice cream cones, and Popsicles, and Creamsicles, and what's the other one...ummmm,"  At that point, I shouted out, "Jelly Beans."  and she finished off her prayer with Jelly Beans.   I just want to clarify that she does NOT get all of those things each time she uses the potty.  In fact, we're pretty much down to only a few Jelly Beans/M&M's a day.  For the most part, she's not requiring any reward.  She just does it.  There still haven't been any accidents so I'm pretty happy.  Today was the real test because we did yard sales but as it so happens, we picked up Elaine part of the way through the morning and she was able to use the potty then.  Other than that, she held it.

Aubree is having what I would call the "witching hour."  She's gotten pretty cranky in the late afternoons after she gets up from her nap.  I try to just sit her down to play with toys or to crawl around or whatever and it's  like she needs constant attention.  I just don't know what her deal is.  What happened to my easy going baby?  Hopefully this will pass.  She's become very demonstrative when she wants something.  She may not be able to talk yet but you sure do know when she sees something she wants...mainly when she sees Calleigh eating or drinking something.  She goes completely bonkers crying out and pointing at it.

Wednesday evening we had a nice mid-week treat by going over to the Isidro's for a visit with some old friends.  Tyler and Erin Jessel were visiting from Oregon where they had moved several years ago.  Duncan and I had worked with Tyler at the hospital.  There were a bunch of others over too: Johnsons, Hecks, Meidingers, Putts, and Catherine Otatti was there with her new baby Gabriela.  We had pizza and I brought brownie delight.  Calleigh and Braelyn had their usual good time and Adam Heck was nice enough to play with them on the swing set while we ate.  Adam told me that when he told Calleigh his name was Adam she said "Oh, it's Adam like in the Bible.  He was in the garden and was disobedient to God."  I'm so glad that she's remembering the stories I'm reading to her!

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, we went and got the pictures done at JCPenney Portrait Studios.  It went really well.  We love the lady there, Liz, who takes the pictures.  She's really good and always knows how to get Calleigh to smile.  Not an easy task I might add.

Just one other cute thing in closing...in my last post I mentioned the boy, Brady, who we met in our neighborhood.  Well, the next day at about 4 pm, our doorbell rings and there's Brady standing there.  He didn't say a word, just stood there.  So I told him that the girls were both napping (of course, that probably makes Calleigh sound babyish to him!) and we would be out in a little while.  I thought it was so cute how he came by.  Anyway, we didn't see him later when we went out and then it's rained the last two days so we haven't been out walking.  But I'm sure we'll run into him again.
Duncan took the girls for a spin in their bike trailer.

Have a Happy Sabbath.

As always such a good read. Loved the first photo, Calleigh looks so serious, mini-me Duncan.
