We're Here in Rainy Boston

Why is it that whenever I go on a vacation it seems to rain? It's raining here today and is supposed to continue this way until Sunday or Monday. Phooey. I won't let it ruin our time.

So we got through the plane ride okay. Our flight left at 1:25 yesterday and Elaine brought us to the airport. We got there around noon and a very nice gentleman for JetBlue really helped me out. I tried to do curbside but you can't do it when you're checking a car seat. But the guy brought in the suitcase and car seat for me and took me right up to the ticket counter, helped me get my tags, and then took the stuff to the security dropoff. You always here such bad things about the airlines so I need to point out how nice this guy was. Of course, I don't know that those guys are even employed by the airlines...Anyway, when we got to the gate I asked the ticket agent if there were any empty seats on the plane. He said there weren't two seats together but there was an empty middle seat in the row ahead of me. I could ask the person sitting in front of me if they would be willing to change seats. So I did the pre-board thing (sidebar on that - - the pilot was actually the one who helped me fold up the stroller as I left it as the end of the jetway. He happened to be walking by and saw me struggling and offered to help. I thought that was pretty neat) and just hung out in our row waiting for the person to come. After a few minutes, a guy in his forties went to sit there and I asked him if he would be willing to switch. He was really nice and said no problem, he had 4 kids at home. So I thought we were in good shape. I spread all out and was just about to Calleigh on the boob knowing she would fall asleep. Then, just as the doors were about to close, down the aisle comes this other guy in his fifties who naturally has the middle seat. I had to pick up all my stuff and apologize. He had happened to catch this flight on standby. But as it turns out, he was very nice. Calleigh was awake for the first hour but was very good and then finally fell asleep on my lap. Of course, had the boob been in play, I'm sure she would fallen asleep much quicker. She slept for just about the rest of the way. Incidentally, she ended up drinking like 16 ounces of milk I would say. Since you can't bring a sippy cup through security, I brought her bottle since it's allowed. She hadn't used a bottle in like four months. She ended up slurping down that milk like it was liquid gold. I had to buy a whole new bottle of it before we got on the plane. So once the plane started descending I breathed a big sigh of relief, we had made it without a scene.

Papa and Gigi were there to pick us up. Calleigh just kind of looked at them for a minute but then she was all friendly. We stopped on the way home at Freddie and Kathy's to borrow some toys and books to take home. We had a major poop incident there - - thank goodness she saved that until we were off the plane. From there, we stopped to get groceries and then on to the homestead. Calleigh went to bed very soon after and went down without a peep. It wasn't a completely peaceful night as she woke up when I went to bed at around 11:15. She stood up in the crib and stared at me for like 10 minutes. I eventually couldn't take it any more and let her come in the bed with me. We both went to sleep at some point and I moved her to her crib. But then she was up at around 6 for some reason.

My mother got home around noon today and my dad left at 9:30 so Calleigh and I spent the morning here at home indoors. I would have loved to take a walk but this weather...After we had lunch, Calleigh had a three hour nap (and I had a little one too) and then she and I went over to the Wrentham Outlets to get a few warm clothes. Gigi had bought Calleigh some but they don't all fit and we didn't bring much with us - - mainly because we don't have much. We got quite a bit wet there but Calleigh thought it was so funny!

We had a bunch of people over for supper, the most important being Bruno who is four. Calleigh had so much fun with him. Below is a very short video of them. I was on the phone while they were playing and so Mom was using the camera and only took video footage by accident so it's short. But you can get the gist. The only problem with this rambunctious play was that Calleigh didn't want to go to sleep. Finally, Gigi laid down with her on the bed and they both fell asleep.

Tomorrow we're going to Norwood Church and then we're going to leave right after potluck to head up to North Conway. I'm not sure when I'll be writing again. Probably not until Monday after we're back from the fair.

Until then!
