Happy Birthday Gigi!

Today is Gigi's birthday and here is a little message from Calleigh. It's not perfect but if you scrunch your ears just so, it sounds pretty close. Anyway, from all of us in the Grodack household, happy birthday Mom! We have found that life has indeed gone on despite a Brady-less NFL. Besides, the Red Sox are making a real push for first place right now giving us a great distraction (truth be told, I was still smarting from losing the Superbowl and wasn't really feeling the football season that much anyway). In fact, a whole caravan of us are going to go down to St. Pete on Monday when the Sox play the Rays. Of course, the Sox have lost like the last 3 or 4 times I've gone to a game there but hopefully the streak will be ended.

Yesterday morning I took Calleigh to the library for story time. I had posted in my blog last week that I was concerned that she wouldn't be able to sit still but that wasn't the case. She sat in my lap and had her attention on the lady in charge for the entire time. It was really great. The "teacher" didn't just read a story, she did a whole bunch of other activities likes songs, bubbles, playing with scarves, etc. There were about 12 babies/toddlers there and it lasted around 20 minutes. I was thinking that it was too bad I didn't know about this sooner but in reality, we would never have gone before because Calleigh was always napping during this time. But now, I'm sure we'll go every week.

After her nap, we did some errands and I stopped at Ross and Bells to see if I could find some pajamas. She's really growing out of most of the ones she has now. We didn't have any luck but Calleigh had a good time walking around the stores. One thing I've really noticed about her is that she loves to sit on stuff. We have a box that we got at Sabbath School in which we're supposed to be collecting money but she really likes to sit on it. While we were at Bells, she found a chair (okay, I did put it out in the aisle) and immediately took a seat. And then when we got out into the parking lot and I was trying to get to the car, she decided to take a seat on the curb and chill out for awhile.

This morning we headed over to the ABC to stock up. Boy, I hadn't bought any food there in a while apparently because the prices seem to be so much higher. Not only that, there is some funny business going on. I wanted to by a case of vegetarian burger and it came to $49.50. So I thought to myself, wait a minute, something isnt't right here. One can is $3.90. You do the math. It's like $3 more to buy a case than if you just bought 12 cans. They can't get one by this accountant. But honestly, it's a miracle I even had my wits about me after the devestating news I had recieved a few minutes earlier. I wanted to get some corn beef to make chip beef on toast and I couldn't find it. And that's when they told me that CORN BEEF HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. First Tom and now this. How much can I take? Duncan is in seventh heaven since he calls it prison food. At least they could have sent out a memo so I could have hoarded it ahead of time like Elaine and her sponges (from Seinfeld - - not that I need to say that I'm sure). So if anyone sees some at their local ABC, let me know. Maybe I can take some back with me from MA if there's any to be found there. Devestating.

In other Calleigh news, she is definitely being observant and starting to mimic or memorize things. For example, last week Elaine pretended to give Calleigh's baby the nuby. I noticed yesterday that Calleigh was trying to do the same thing with her bear. Another thing that she's doing is blowing on her food. If I say her food is hot, she'll put it up to her mouth and blow on it before putting it in her mouth. Apparently she had seen me do this a few times and then got it into her mind to do the same thing. And then this evening when I told her we were going to take a tubbie, she immediately said "towel," ran into her room, opened the top drawer of her bureau that has the towels in it and tried to get one out. She's a smartie!

I was going to tell you about Duncan's new sunglasses but I'll save that story for another day.

Well, the Sox weren't a very good diversion tonight.

And, by the way: they have discontinued my favorite veggie-meet as well - bologno (or however you spell it). I don't know what is going on with them these days! Perhaps there are too many fake meats out there today, giving them competition.

I thought I had seen corn beef at our little church store but probably am wrong--I will definitely try to get over there sometime this week and confiscate any if I find it! I'm probably wrong though!

Shawn: Very sorry to hear about the bologno although truth be told, I couldn't stand the stuff.

Aunt Lori: I'll keep my fingers crossed! I will definitely take some. Think I can wrap it up in several bags of plastic and pack it in my bag to take on the plane back with me??
