Fountain Fun

Yesterday we met up with Lauren and Caroline at this neat water fountain near downtown Winter Park. Lauren had mentioned it has a place to go and since I'm always looking for new places (particularly free ones), it sounded like a great idea. Obviously by watching this video, it's quite apparent what kind of fountain it is. I was curious to see if Calleigh would be scared of it but my fears were unfounded. She did spend a lot of time on the periphery but did "run" through from one side to the other a couple of times. I wished I had my suit on or a change of clothes because I would have had a blast with her in it. We'll definitely have to take Duncan with us next time. It was apparent that a lot of other mothers have the same idea with the fountain because there were a bunch of other kids there. Calleigh had no problems with making friends.

Last night we had Pizza Night although I ended up making the pizza because Shannon was allegedly studying or at least making a good show of it. Just kidding, Shan. The gang got their cable and Internet installed just before they came over so that was a good thing. However, David stayed here to watch the Red Sox game which, as I'm sure many of you know, lasted until the 14th inning with disappointing results. At one point in the 10th inning, David and I were left with a big quandary. The Sox had two men on and no outs at just the same time an ambulance, police car, and fire truck were parked at the end of our driveway with their lights flashing. We couldn't decide what we wanted to watch more! We stayed with the Sox and when it was over ran outside to discover that they had put my next door neighbor (whom I don't know) into the ambulance because he was unresponsive and "may be on something." Hopefully that ended well.

We didn't do anything too exciting today - - just went on our weekly Walmart run. Apparently we should have bought some cookies since Duncan is now scrounging through the kitchen looking for a treat. But with my new diet and exercise regimen, I didn't want cookies in the house. Yes, I'm on Day 5 and it's still going great. I've been riding the bike (under protest from my rear end) and doing the hula hoop. I've also been learning some new things about nutrition like what proportion your Carbs, Fat, and Protein should be - - everything you eat is broken out into those three categories. Sorry to say, I didn't know that before. I also learned that a woman who is lactating should consume at least 1800 calories a day to be able to produce milk. Hmmm, I guess I could take a cookie today after all. And here is a very weird thing - - when I got groceries today, I didn't buy any milk. I stil have a gallon and a half from last week. I don't think I've EVER gotten groceries without buying milk. But I'm down to only 3 cups (8 ounces each) of milk a day since each cup is 110 calories. I really don't know if I can maintain that. Milk is just so darn yummy.

In Calleigh news, she has become completely consumed with watching videos of herself. I take several videos a day with my camera and put them on Picassa. At first, I would show her the videos if she was ever upset or whatever and needed something to distract her or cheer her up. But now she's just obsessed with it. If I get near my computer, she'll come over to me and start saying "Baby Calleigh" meaning she wants to look at the videos. If I happen to have the camera in my hand, she'll come and park herself in my lap so she can watch. I almost can't even take pictures or videos any more because as soon as she sees the camera, she'll make a beeline to me. I've had to get much faster with snapping away.

Here are a few final pictures I was able to get. The first is of her with her new snack bowl. She eats her Puffs snacks right out of the big container it comes in. Naturally, many of the puffs fall on the floor and then people make faces at me when I let her eat them. So I finally resolved this problem by getting one of the little containers that keeps the snacks safe but the child can get some out with their hand. The novelty of it hasn't worn off yet. The second one is after she took the broom from me. I was trying to sweep the floor but she insisted that she have the broom. She started trying to sweep just like me!

Corey, I've been reading the nutrition book Lori had in Nova Scotia. I won't say the name of it here because of the title but I think you know what I mean. You NEED to buy that book and read it. It is quite convincing and will help you. I'm close to embracing the concepts myself. I love th fountain.

So let me get this straight: your neighbor - who you do not know - may be dead, and you wouldn't stop watching the Red Sox game?? Isn't that what DVRs were created for? Just such a situation?

Looks like you may have a little actress on your hands with Calleigh.

And I know that Camille would certainly second the recommendation from mother on that book. Right now, we have one bag of cheese tucked away in the back of our refrigerator drawer. Camille didn't tell me we even have it when she left for Maine! But I did not open it. She hasn't bought any since we got back from Nova Scotia.
