Preparations Are Under Way

I wish this was the actual room but alas, no!
I'm glad babies don't know anything because I would feel kind of bad if baby Brady knew we had waited until the very last week to get things ready for his arrival.  Of course, some day he can just read this and he'll know!  Duncan and I came to the conclusion yesterday that we needed to paint his room because we couldn't find any decor we liked at a reasonable price that matched the green in there.  Duncan swore he would never paint again but for his son, I guess he makes exceptions.  We're going with a tan color and a nautical theme which you can see in the picture below.  I just ordered the decor today off eBay and who knows that it will even get here by next Wednesday but I guess that's what happens when you procrastinate.  As I've said in our defense though, we really didn't want to do anything until Aubree was all moved out which she finally is (we wanted to wait until the very end to do that).  We also purchased a "pull out" chair (as opposed to a "pull out" sofa) for the room which will be my sleeping spot for awhile.  Again, probably won't make it here in time but oh well.  Yes, I purchased it on-line (free shipping) so it will be interesting to see what kind of packaging a chair comes in.

My future bed.  I got it off Overstock.com and it got excellent reviews.  We'll see.
Over the long weekend, we got a lot of other stuff done.  Duncan put the bureau together from Ikea and we got all Aubree's stuff moved into Calleigh's, or should I say, their room.  The closet is packed pretty tight.  It's not small by any means but I realized that the girls have a LOT of dresses.  Most of them come from yard sales, of course, so I feel okay in that I didn't spend a lot of money on all of it.  They're both wearing two sizes right now, too, so that adds to the collection.  Duncan got Aubree's letters switched to her new room so I think that made both the girls feel like they are official roommates.  Because Calleigh's been taking her naps again recently, I've also had Aubree napping in there too the last few days. I wouldn't say it's worked perfectly as it's taking Aubree at least a half hour to get to sleep (as opposed to one minute) but it may be the way it is from now on.  But seriously, if there was any doubt as to the importance of naps, it came to fruition yesterday.  She didn't get into bed until 2:30 (as opposed to 2:00) and then didn't get to sleep until after 3:00, thanks to Calleigh.  I woke her up at about 4:40 because I didn't want her to have trouble falling asleep last night.  Boy oh boy, was she cranky the rest of the day.  She just didn't get a long enough nap, plain and simple.

Sabbath was a normal day and gladly, my last day of teaching for awhile.  I thought I may have to teach this coming up week because my teacher for June wasn't around on Sabbath and I didn't know what the deal was.  But she's been found!  Don't get me wrong.  I enjoy the teaching but at this point, I'm ready to take a break!  After Sabbath School was over, we couldn't resist taking a picture of the pregnant ladies...Four ladies but six babies!

Ashley (boy, boy, and girl, due November), Lisa (girl, due September), Leslie (girl, due June), and Moi.

This one is for you, Aunt Toni.  Not a good picture of Aubree but wanted you to at least see they're wearing your dresses!
We didn't want to spend the whole weekend in the house working so we had the idea of going to Wekiva Springs for a picnic on Sunday.  Well, that was unfortunately shelved when we got there to find the park closed because it was full.  Oops!  We ended up doing a picnic at Grandma and Grandpa's pool instead which I think Calleigh was just as happy with anyway since she's addicted to that pool.  On Monday, Duncan was so kind to take the girls to Cocoa Beach so I could have some more time to get things organized here.  But foiled again!  Upon arriving at the beach, he found it littered with jellyfish preventing anyone from going into the water.  They played for awhile on the beach (since Calleigh found a friend) and then once again, ended up at Grandma and Grandpa's pool.  Meanwhile, I got a lot done including picking up a "new" swing from someone off Craig's List.  The swing Calleigh had used for the first four months of her life had broken soon after Aubree started using it and we never ended up getting another one.  But I want to be prepared in case he really needs it.  It's amazing how much more expensive things are compared to four years ago.  I swear we purchased this swing for a little over $100 back then and now it's going for like $179.  Clearly, I wasn't about to pay that much so I was happy to get a used one for $60.

I just love Aubree's facial expressions in these pictures.  She's just so serious.

Calleigh and her friend.  You can't see them but they had to dodge through all the jellyfish.

Aubree has "graduated" to the ledge at the deep end of the pool of which she is very proud.
This morning we were off to JCPenney for the girls birthday pictures.  I obviously picked a good time to go because there was never another customer there through the entire process so it all flowed very smoothly.  The girls were amazing.  I remember being astounded at how well Calleigh did for her two year pictures (since you could never get her to smile for a picture, just like Aubree is now) and I was equally amazed at how well Aubree did.  She was able to follow all the directions of where to put her hands and how to sit or lie and smiled just as big as can be.  As I've mentioned on here, they have a lady there named Liz who is really great and Calleigh knows her quite well by this time.  When we were walking in for the appointment, Calleigh says to me "Make sure that Liz knows I'm a princess now because I'm four."  I'm not sure what being four has to do with being a princess but I was sure to inform Liz of this news.  After the pictures, we went and played in the playground for a bit until the girls were warn out.  One funny thing while we were there...a mother came strolling in with her twin baby girls.  Aubree was fascinated since she is very smitten with babies, real or otherwise.  She insisted on taking my hand and pulling me over to look at them.  We looked for a minute or two and then went and sat back down.  But then she told me she wanted to go back and look again and then said to me "Can we pet them?"  Apparently we've been reading to many puppy books (we really have, actually!).

Calleigh, meanwhile, cracked me up a little last night.  I was getting the girls ready for bed.  Thankfully this job has gotten considerably easier over the last few months as Calleigh is completely independent with getting herself in her pajamas now that she doesn't need a diaper at night (although, having said that, last night she had her very first accident here at home).  She was putting on her zip up pajamas (how she can stand those heavy pajamas is beyond me since I'm practically sweating in my nightgown) and I helped her with one of the feet that was stuck.  I went to do the zipper too and she swatted my hand away and said "I'll do it because I'm not pregnant."  I can see she's taken note that there are a few things I'm not doing anymore because of my "condition."

Finally, I just have to share my excitement about the Bruins being in the Stanley Cup!  I know I've said on here, which is still true, that since giving birth to my children, sports has taken a much lessor roll in my life.  It's unbelieveable to hear myself say that when I think about how things were before kids.  I mean, I watched EVERY non-Sabbath Red Sox game in a 162-game season.  Somehow once you have kids, that all changes and you realize you don't miss it all that much.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm sure once they're a little older and they show some interest in it, that will change somewhat.  Certainly, I have many, many fond memories of sports events as a kid that I treasure.  Anyway, all that being said, when one of the Boston teams makes it to the playoffs, I still feel the excitement.  The Bruins start the Stanley Cup finals tomorrow night and I can't help but remember the last two times they were in which was 1988 and 1990.  In 1988, I watched the games through binoculars looking into a neighbor's window from my bedroom window.  Crazy, huh?  I was 12 at the time and we didn't have a TV.  Fortunately, for the 1990 finals, we did have one and I didn't have to stoop to such levels.  But really, I remember going to the Boston Garden in the late 80's and early 90's for Bruins game and there really wasn't anything like that.  The excitement was unbelievable.  Those were some pretty neat times with my father and brothers.  As I look ahead at the schedule, I see that Game 4 will be next Wednesday night and I'm wondering if the hospital has Versus, the channel the game will be on.  Here's hoping!  Although...I wouldn't be surprised if the Bruins weren't already facing elimination by then.  I think Vancouver is going to be pretty tough.

Okie, dokie.  That's the update from here.  Have a great rest of the week.
