Two D's

Their latest "thing."  Building a fort on the stairs with the pillows.
If you say the above very fast, what does it sound like?  Yup, I'm sure you've figured it out.  Every time I think about it it makes me laugh.  We were in the ABC picking up some vegeburger yesterday and while we were at the cashier checking out, Calleigh starts talking about how she does tooties in the tubby.  She repeated it a couple times but I was preoccupied with the cashier so I didn't pay attention.  But finally I whispered to her that we don't talk about tooties in public.  To which she responded, "No, I was saying that I have two D's in the tub.  You know, my foam letters."  I have to give her credit.  She's fast on her feet with coming up with a pretty feasible story.  And it's almost feasible other than the fact that she does NOT have two D's.  Since then, she's recanted her story and claimed she said she has a "2" and a "D."  Either way, it makes me smile!

Speaking of the tub and tooties, I wish that was what Aubree was doing in there rather than the other.  She's had an accident twice in the last week and it sure is a pain to clean up.  She hasn't been going # 2 all day - - apparently saving it for the bathtub.  We had been in such a great routine with her going every day on the toilet after lunch but I think she has gone one solitary time in the almost three weeks since I've been back from the cruise.  I guess my little interlude threw her off schedule.

Okay, enough with the bodily function talk.  Is it really pathetic that I'm trying to remember what we did Wednesday and I can't even think of it.  It must be the pregnancy hormones.  Oh, that statement just triggered what we did.  We went to my doctor's appointment...on the right day this time.  All went well although we waited a LONG time for the doctor to come in.  Apparently our paperwork got messed up and she didn't realize I was waiting.  At any rate, the girls were very good despite it all.  We read books and looked at magazines.  As far as my weight, I'm definitely catching up to where I "should" be at this stage with a total weight gain of about 14 pounds now.  Hmm, at this point with Aubree I was only at 11 pounds gained (although I'm starting at a lower point then I did with her.  Not sure if that matters) so I may need to cut back on the evening treats.  Anyway, after the appointment, we jetted over to the library to get new books.  Since we didn't make it to storytime the day before due to the missing tooth, we really needed to get there to stock up on new books.  I get sick of those old ones!

Yesterday, as I mentioned, we went to the ABC to get some food and also ended up with a few new kids books and stickers (cheap ones, of course).  We were just about out of vegeburger and we have some people coming over Saturday night for supper so I needed to stock up.  I also picked up the teacher's edition for the 2nd quarter Beginners (Cradle Roll) lesson since I'll be the leader, and no doubt teacher most of the time, for April - June.   Obviously the timing is kind of stinky since the baby will be coming June 8 and I'm sure I'll be missing a few weeks of church but what can you do?

After the ABC, we went to Walmart for groceries.  I'm so happy to be spending less money there now obviously due to my Publix shopping but I guess it's probably also due to the fact that I'm purchasing our diapers and wipes now on Amazon.  If you sign up to get automatic shipments of stuff at certain intervals (every month, two months, etc) they give you a 30% discount and it's definitely cheaper than getting the stuff at Walmart or other places even with coupons (from what I can tell).    I'm hoping come June that I will only have two kids in diapers and not three.  Calleigh is still wearing a diaper for nap time and bed.  I've tried to skip it for at least the nap but she's having little accidents.  Usually it's just while she's still awake and she'll just let out a tiny bit but then of course, she wants to be changed and all that.  So I get lazy and just say she's using the diaper instead.  We told her that if she could stay dry during the night and doesn't have to use a diaper any more we'll get her a present but so far, it hasn't seemed to motivate her.  Hopefully over the next few months, it will.

After nap time (during which time, Calleigh did nap.  Hooray!), we hit up Publix.  I feel like I'm pressing my luck a little too much to do consecutive Publix-Walmart outings so I saved Publix for after the nap.  I had a pretty big stack of coupons so I was a little nervous about how things would go but they were so good.  The last two time there now, they've been angels and I'm sure to heap praise on them when that happens.  Hopefully it's making an impression!  We had another great outing there with $22 spent and $109 saved.  Over the last week of shopping, I've accumulated 19 jars of pasta sauce and about 16 cans of soup, among a bunch of other things, so we should be good on that for awhile.

Today we were back to yard sales but unfortunately it was a major dud.  Sometimes it just happens that way.  I bought one single book (for me) and some magnetic toys for the girls.  Okay, so the magnets have been fun especially since Duncan was playing with them and building stuff this evening with the girls but two things for a whole day was pretty sad.  Even sadder was how paranoid Calleigh was with my driving.  There's a lot of backing up and turning around when you go to yard sales and Calleigh is literally a backseat driver now.  As we back up, she has her neck cranked all the way around to see what's behind us and she'll shout out "Be careful, Be careful" with a look of great concern on her face.  I'm sure she's very worried I'll back into something again.  During one of those times, I was thinking to myself, "Boy, I wish I had the later model of the Sedona" because my parent's model has the backup camera and warning bell that dings.  All of this could have been avoided if we had that on ours.  But it wasn't a standard feature (or maybe even added feature) the year we got ours.

We stopped at a playground after yard sales and they had hopscotch there.

Or, as Aubree prefers to call it, "Hotscotch."
In closing, and since it's Sabbath after all, I'll mention a few more questions that Calleigh has asking lately all about Heaven, one of her favorite topics:

  • Will there be snow in heaven?  (This one was from a while ago actually but she's asking it again).
  • Can I throw snowballs at Jesus?
  • Will skunks smell in heaven?
  • Can Jesus shave his beard so that when I give him a kiss it won't be scratchy?
After one of the questions, I don't know which one, I must have given too long a pause before answering because she said "I'll have to talk to Papa."  Yes, that's an excellent idea.

That's all the news thats fit to print.  Have a Happy Sabbath.

I love the "Two D's" - there is no way I could have come up with that so fast! Smarty pants! (=
