Farming It

Sabbath found us heading to Green Meadows Farm in Kissimmee rather than to church.  The girls aren't what I'd call terribly sick but the three of us have had a lingering cough so we decided that it was better to be around then animals than people.  I had gotten a Groupon deal for the Farm back before Christmas so it worked out perfectly.  It was a nice sunny day, if not a little colder than we would have liked, but nonetheless, a nice day to be at a farm.  It's interesting to see how Calleigh's changed since we were last there in November of 2009.  She didn't have any qualms about holding some of the animals or milking the cow this time.  Whereas Aubree steered very clear of the milking cow thing.  She wanted no part of it.  We thought maybe Aubree would be a little hesitant about riding the pony but she loved it!  Everyone marveled at how little she was but yet holding on all by herself.  It was pretty cute I must say.   We brought lunch to eat on the way home to try to keep the girls awake which barely worked with Aubree.  We almost lost her about 15 minutes from home but I got her woken back up.  Thank goodness.  She missed a nap the other day and she cried for just about two hours straight from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

Daddy had to catch it for her.

Aubree wasn't so sure.

Let's see.  I don't think there is anything else remotely interesting happening with us.  Friday we did go to the pediatrician because Aubree has had this dry patch on her face for like the last month.  I finally got around to scheduling an appointment and the doctor thinks its probably Eczema.  She says it often happens with little kids when it's colder out, etc.  I have to get some hydro cortisone cream for it and that should clear it up.  The timing of the appointment worked out well because the night before, Calleigh was complaining that her ears were hurting her.  So I got the doc to look at her ears and then Aubree's too and it turns out they both had ear infections. They didn't and don't have fevers or anything and Aubree hasn't made any indication of her ears bothering her but I guess it's just one of those things.  They are both on Amoxicillin now.  The first time they've been on an antibiotic for sickness (Aubree took something when she had her lump that was subsequently removed).  Calleigh hasn't complained about her ears since then and Aubree still hasn't complained so I guess it's a fairly mild case.

Today was one of those days when I think about how nice it was to be on the cruise.  I say that because Calleigh seemed to be particularly cranky and was bugging Aubree which made Aubree cranky.  You're bound to have these days from time to time and you just get through them and relish the peace and quiet that comes once they're in bed.  We went over Ron and Elaine's for a nice supper and that was a nice diversion at least.

My cold sores are getting better although I don't know if it was due to my three treatments or not.  But Aubree has been so precious about it.  She'll periodically ask me "What's that?" as she points to my lips.  I tell her that they're cold sores and she says "Ohhh, I sorry."  And then a few times she gave me a hug afterwards. She's repeated this like ten times.  I don't know if she keeps forgetting what they are or if she just wants to comfort me.

The other thing she's been doing is talking about going places but always tomorrow.  On the way to the farm, we kept passing billboards of SeaWorld and and Aubree started shouting out "Shamu Show!"  And then she kept saying "I go there tomorrow."  It's been the same with the Science Center and the library where, at random times, she's told me she's going there tomorrow.  We actually were planning to go to the Science Center tomorrow to the new Curious George exhibit but I don't know if that will be happening if she and I are still coughing.  It's strange because I feel completely fine otherwise but I have this cough.  I feel like my mother!

The last thing to report is that I believe I have just finished my taxes although I was a little disappointed with the results.  No, we don't have to pay or anything but the refund is significantly smaller than last year.  Good thing we're having another kid!  Part of the problem is that we've paid a lot less in interest on our mortgage and in property taxes so that lowers our itemized deductions.  Don't get me wrong, these really are very good things but not when it comes to tax time!  I'm trying to be a lot more careful with documenting everything this year and scanning all my backup into my computer now that Shawn and Camille have or are undergoing an audit.  I guess you never know.

Have a great week.

Loved the pics, especially the one with the kids holding the hens. Reminded me of a similar one of Dick and me when I was 2 or 3 in Humphries.

Looks like a great place for the girls. It seems like they had a blast. Aubree did look so tiny on that pony (but so cute!)!!
