Obviously with all the wedding going on, it's not unexpected that Calleigh would have a big interest in the whole wedding thing. I've shared a few tidbits in the past (like when she said she was marrying Jonathan Herr) but there's been even more recently. On Sunday we went to David's Bridal to try on our respective dresses for Shannon's wedding. First off, the name of the store threw Calleigh for a major loop. She kept calling it David & Yully's Bridal! So I had to clarify that for her. We found our dresses, put them on, and then came out to the mirrors. There's this one group of mirrors that has a big platform in front of it so Calleigh immediately made a beeline for that. Once up there, she announced that it was "time for the wedding prayer" and then knelt down to to pray which was something to the effect of "thank you that I can get married." I was only able to get her down when I reminded her she had a second dress to try on. The second one fit better, surprisingly since it was only a 2T, but then trying to get her out of it proved to be an undertaking. She did not want to get out of her "wedding dress" and I was afraid a tantrum was imminent. I think the only way I got her to cooperate was that Duncan came into the store with Aubree and I threatened that Daddy would have to get involved. As a side note, I also tried on my dress and found that a smaller size then I had just ordered fit me. That was a nice feeling and fortunately I was able to change my order.
But that's not all with the wedding stuff. She re-discovered my collection of scarves and low and behold, there's a big white scarf that if you tie it just right around her waist, can drag behind her on the floor like a train of a wedding dress. That has proven to be a very fun past time for her as she walks up and down the hall. And speaking of weddings, we may have a challenge on our hands come the big day in September. She's figured out that I'm in the wedding and wanted to know if I was going to be standing on the stage. When I said yes she declared that she wanted to stand with me on the stage. I've been non-committal but she's brought it up several times now. I don't think her standing on the stage will go too well so we'll have to figure out how to handle this big idea of hers.
In other activities, yesterday we made a trip to Trotwood Park to go to the splash playground and feed the ducks and turtles. There were several other kids there which is always nice because Calleigh will latch on to one of them leaving me to entertain Aubree. All I kept thinking as I trailed a crawling Aubree from spout to spout was "just walk already!"
Taking a break.
Today we went to Storytime and then on to Publix to try and transfer a prescription. We ended up with two balloons and then sadly, Aubree's escaped out of my hand as we were getting out of the van upon returning home. Publix called me to say there was a problem with the prescription just as we got out so I was distracted. Calleigh watched as it floated away and asked me if I remembered the other balloon that floated away when she was two. She said it was okay though because when we fly up to heaven we would be able to find the two balloons.
The slight runny noses that I mentioned in my last post unfortunately turned into something a bit more for Aubree. Saturday night was not a good night. She was awake from about 11:30 to 2:30. She had no fever, just a drippy nose that I'm sure caused a problem with sucking on her binky. The end result was Duncan sleeping downstairs on the couch and Aubree sleeping on his side of the bed but with her head where her feet should be. Whatever works. Her afternoon nap was a much shortened version as well much to my chagrin since I was trying to take a nap myself. Sunday night she made some noises but thank goodness, nothing major and by Monday night, she was sleeping normally again and the boogers are winding down. It's so weird to have one of them afflicted with something since it's so rare. Calleigh's nose is a little stuffy but nothing big.
I've also previously mentioned Aubree and her sitting next to the door in a timeout like Calleigh. Well, yesterday it even went beyond that. Calleigh was playing with a toy and Aubree crawled over to try to grab it from her. Calleigh sternly told her no and said to her that if Aubree took it away, she would have to go in a timeout. And then just like that, Aubree crawled to the door and sat there like she was in timeout. Crazy! They really do understand a lot even at a young age. I assured Aubree that she could leave her spot and told Calleigh she was not in charge of doing timeouts for Aubree but then Calleigh would keep saying "you'll get a timeout Aubree" and poor Aubree would keep going back to the door. So obviously the understanding isn't quite all there just yet.
In closing, just a cute Calleigh quote. I mentioned how she's big into names. She asked me if Jonathan was a Grodack like we are. I told her that no, his name is Jonathan Herr. A while later, she asked me if Jonathan She was going to be at church.

We had the best chuckle reading this post. In particular "sick" Aubree looks like an Alcatraz confinee right down to the mugshot look. Loved the Calleigh comments!
Great stuff that keeps me current.
