This has definitely been the phrase of the week for Calleigh - - and I'm guessing it will be more than just this week. This is what she says when she wants to know what something is called. And, being only 23 months old, there are many things she doesn't know the name of so I hear this phrase repeated multiple times a day. A variation on it is "What's this song?" as we listen to her CD's. Of course, I'm glad she's curious and I don't mind telling her the name of something and describing it - - how else will she learn, right?? And once she knows what something is and then she sees it again, well, the excitement is limitless. This afternoon when we drove into the Target parking lot in Casselberry, she was THRILLED to see the white water tower situated there. She loves towers!
Let's see, what have we been up to this week...It's hard to remember even though it's only been the last few days. I call it baby brain. You know you have it when it's Friday and you can't remember Tuesday for the life of you. Wait, it's coming back to me. Tuesday was actually a really bad day weather wise - - tornado watches and thunderstorms. We did finally leave the house in the late morning to go to Babies R Us. I had a gift card and needed to pick up some new sleep sacks for Calleigh. While we were there, I let her pick out some binkies for baby sister - - to reassure her once again, that baby sister would have her own binkies and wouldn't have to use Calleigh's. When we got home, Calleigh wanted to open the binkies so she could put them in Mommy's belly for baby sister. I do think she actually thought they would go in there but obviously I explained that it didn't quite work that way. Too cute though!
Wednesday was a very busy day. It was Shannon's birthday and as part of our celebration, she, Aunt Toni, Calleigh, and I ventured down to Sea World for a few hours in the morning. It's nice having the annual pass because you don't mind being there for a short time and the parking is free. It was an incredibly beautiful day and we very leisurely strolled through part of the park. We only saw a couple of things and spent a good deal of time at the splash fountains where Calleigh played (this time in a bathing suit). But we enjoyed ourselves - - despite eating probably the worst french fries EVER. It was a unanimous decision on that one. After about three hours or so, we left for home with Calleigh eating her lunch in the car - - this was pre-meditated on my part as a ploy to keep her awake. It worked out very well.
Elaine came over at about two, after Calleigh had already quickly fallen asleep for her nap, so that I could go to the hospital for a meeting. Once I got home at about 4:45, we had a few minutes to get some things done and then it was off to the Cheesecake Factory for Shannon's birthday. The usual crew was there and we had a nice meal. At least, I think it was nice. I didn't really taste much of it because I was so busy trying to keep Calleigh entertained. Exactly what age is it that they will sit peacefully in a restaurant so that you can converse with people around you and enjoy your food? I'm hoping that we're getting to it soon. Of course, then I'll just have another one to deal with.
Thursday morning we headed over to the Herr's new place so visit Kristine and Jonathan. Calleigh found it quite exciting to play with all the "new" toys. They have a lab and the big dog didn't faze Calleigh in the least. Jonathan also has the "My Bible Friends" books so when Calleigh saw the "Samuel book," well, of course we had to read it. She sat on my lap and Jonathan sat next to me and that was that.
I don't think I actually finished the story though before Calleigh wanted to wander to some other part of the house. I told Kristine that I was pretty glad that my downstairs is basically one giant room so that I don't have to go from room to room to keep my eye on her. That would be quite tiring!
This morning we did our yard sale thing. We had a very successful outing. Probably because of the holiday last weekend, people didn't have yard sales so there were a bunch today. I found a bunch of clothes for Calleigh and Calleigh met a bunch of new friends, much to her delight. I told you how much she likes the yard sales and even tonight when she was saying her prayers, when Duncan asked her what she was thankful for, the first thing she said was "Yard sales!"
As I mentioned, this afternoon we were at Target. We actually went there to do the baby registry. We had no intention of registering anywhere what with this being the second baby, and another girl to boot, but my work told me yesterday that they are going to do a shower for me on Thursday morning. Very unexpected but very nice of them to be sure. Of course, there really isn't that much we need since we have all of Calleigh's old clothes, a stroller, car seat, etc already but things like diapers, nursing stuff, a diaper pail, are needed the second time around again. So our list has mostly cheap stuff on it this time!
Some other items:
- I think we're getting close to settling on a name for baby sister so hopefully we'll have that posted here in the not too distant future.
- The Copsey clan is going on a cruise starting Sunday. We've been on several cruises with them and it's kind of said that we won't be on this one (obviously, it's out of the question). If we were on it, I can only imagine the torture of the evening meal with Calleigh involved. I can't think of many worse experiences than that would sure to be. And since that's just about my favorite part of a cruise (the EATING!), it probably wouldn't be worth it.
- Rad, Jen, and her parents are coming down here on vacation next week. So we look forward to seeing those guys at least one of the days, hopefully.
- I'm happy to report that the back pain that I was experiencing last week has pretty much disappeared except for when I carry Calleigh up the stairs. Yay! However, it has finally gotten almost impossible to sleep on my back (yes, I still know that's bad anyway) and the side thing is so challenging for me. I find myself waking up during the middle of the night and having a hard time getting back to sleep. No matter how many times I tell myself "Corey, go back to sleep. In the near future you will be forced to be awake right now" it doesn't seem to help. I think this is why I've been pretty tired the last few evenings and have gone to bed a little earlier than usual (around 10:45).
On that note, I will close off. Have a Happy Sabbath!
