Baby Sister Has A Name

After eight months and some change, we have FINALLY decided on a name. Naturally, it is the name that I picked out at the very beginning. The same thing happened with Calleigh. I thought of her name in October (she was born in May) but then we spent many months trying to find something we liked better - - which we never did obviously. Anyway, without further adieu, the name we have chosen is Aubree Lynn. If you are over forty as you read this, most likely you're wrinkling your nose. At least that is the general consensus I have gotten from most of my older relatives. Apparently the name appeals more to us younger folks as people in my age group have given positive feedback for the most part. The reason we are spelling it with the double 'e' on the end is so that it can be shortened to Bree for those who would prefer to call her by a different, more appealing name (to them). As for the Lynn, that part should be fairly obvious - it's my middle name. We had another idea in mind for it but in the end, we thought a one syllable middle name sounded the best with a two syllable first name. So there you have it. And yes, this is the name that Calleigh, out of the blue, said she liked the best. You can blame her if you don't like it!!

We had a typical Sabbath. Hopefully when I say typical, it means that Calleigh will continue to make it through the whole service every week like she did on Sabbath. I killed a good 10 minutes by just having her put stickers on her arms and legs and then my arms and legs. Yay for stickers!

Saturday night I spent more time up in Aubree's room (I don't have to call her baby sister any more!) going through all of my scrapbooking supplies and pictures - - trying to get rid of as much junk as I could since I had to find a new home for it all. Goodness, remember when you actually got printouts of all your pictures before there was digital? Sure makes for a LOT of storage. But I finally did get it all moved to spots in my room and closet which strangely seems to be filling up with a lot of stuff!

Sunday morning found us headed down to Ikea with Elaine. We managed to decide on a futon while Elaine was on Calleigh duty (which entailed following her around the store for about a half hour while she tried every chair and bed in the place). We checked out the cribs as well but I was greatly disappointed in what they had to offer. It looked like a strong wind would take out the cribs in about five seconds. But we we did find a small shelf that we can use for our printer and Internet that replaced our large hutch in the corner of the room. But going back to the futon, the decor that we have picked for the room is brown, lime green, and what I recalled as being orange. Our walls our brown so we were going to do the whole brown and pink thing but then I saw brown/green/orange combo at Target and changed my mind. So the futon we picked out has an orange cover on it. When we got home, I went to Target.com to show Elaine the decor. To my dismay, it turns out that the combo is brown/green/YELLOW, not orange! Technically, we haven't bought any of the decor yet so we aren't stuck per se, but Duncan has convinced me that the orange futon will still go and we just need to accessorize the futon with pillows that go with the other colors. So we'll see how it all turns out.

After nap time, Duncan put together the little shelf with some help from Calleigh and then we went over Ron & Elaine's for supper. They're leaving on a business/personal trip up to Virginia/Maryland/Pennsylvania starting on Tuesday and will return on the following Thursday so we won't be seeing them for awhile. When we got home, Calleigh went to bed and then Duncan put together the futon and then we capped off the evening with watching The Amazing Race. I'm rooting for the Asian siblings to win it all who seemed to be a little uncomfortable in the middle of the meltdown on the mat at the end. Good stuff!

This morning Calleigh and I went to story time as usual. I didn't have the energy to go anywhere else so the rest of the morning we spent hanging out in baby Aubree's room. We never went in there much since it was the office/guest room but now that there's hardly anything in there but the futon, there's plenty of room to just sit. And there were enough odds and ends to keep Calleigh occupied for a time (I got about ten "What's this one's?"). Notice the "Samuel" book in the picture which seems to go with her from room to room. This morning we read (or at least started to read) the story of Namaan. There's a part in there about praying to idols and I told Calleigh how we only prayed to Jesus, not idols. So for the rest of today, she must have repeated that fact to me a dozen times although on her own, she added that we could also pray to God.

I'm about to pop some muffins in the oven so gotta run. I know it 10:15 but there's no accounting for when a pregnant lady gets hungry, right??

What a pretty name! I certainly like it. I am glad you went with the one Calleigh picked out.

I am one of the "old relatives" but I think it is very nice. Aunt Sherrie should be happy as her middle name is Lynn as well. Can't wait to see her!

If it's a Calleigh pick then it's an OK name. Bree has a nice ring to it and you know that's the name she will hear the most. Love reading the blog when we are travelling.
