Yesterday afternoon, the Copsey clan got back from their cruise and we met up with them over at the cousins. Even though the Northerners had flown down, because of airline prices, they decided to all drive back with Toni and Terry in the motorhome (yes, their gig down here is over and they're headed back to work at Cape Cod next. We're very sad...). It took Calleigh about 30 seconds to get reacquainted with Mia, whom she hadn't seen since Nova Scotia in August, and then the two of them were inseparable for the duration of our visit. Mia basically followed Calleigh everywhere she went. I quite enjoyed it because I was able to sit down and socialize and feel comfortable that Calleigh wouldn't get into any trouble with an older friend looking after her. I'll have to make sure Mia does the same while we're in Nova Scotia this year! Anyway, Calleigh had an awesome time with her and she's asked many times since we left, "Where's Mia?" The other weird thing is that she's asked about "W" also...I'm pretty sure she's talking about Devin but where on earth she got the nickname of "W" for him, I'll never know. It's not like he looks like the former president or anything!
Alison had brought with her a lovely present that she had made for us - - a beautiful brown and pink quilt for Aubree. Since we JUST picked the name out, she wasn't able to put a name on it like she did for Calleigh's, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. If only I had a portion of her talent. And I'm a sucker for brown, I must say. My only regret is that I left it at the cousins which I'm really bummed about because I wanted to post a picture of it here. I'll have to do that next time...
Going back to Sabbath, we made it through the church service once again. Yay! And then the big news is that Duncan taught Sabbath School! It wasn't alone, Allen tag teamed with him, but still...They did a really great job. As soon as it started, I pulled out my camera prepared to capture this momentous occasion on video and still picture - - only to discover I had left the battery charging at home. I was so disgusted! Tangie did take a picture but I've yet to get it from her so I'll have to post it later. It was cute because Braelyn stayed in Allen's arms just about the whole time. Although Calleigh stood next to Duncan for a few minutes, it didn't take long until she was doing her usual roaming around the room.
Last night it became official that Calleigh's sleeping habits have changed. She no longer is sleeping in her sleep sack. She has used a sleep sack ever since we stopped swaddling her at about 4 or 5 months of age. There have been a few naptimes of late where I would go up to get her and find the sack unzipped and parts of her would be sticking out. Last night when I checked in on her before going to bed, the sack was completely off. When I put her down for her nap today, I asked her if she wanted her blanket on or off and she said 'off' so that was that. But now I'm curious on what to do. Do I just throw a regular blanket in the crib for her to use in case she gets cold? Do I skip the blanket all together? Do I put in a blanket and tuck it in the sides of the crib so it's like a bed? I don't see this plan working since she's usually all over the place when she's sleeping. I would be curious to hear from other parents who have/had toddlers sleeping in cribs as to what they did..Maybe they outgrew the crib before the sleep sack. So now I'm also trying to figure out the proper sleepwear. It gets pretty cold in her room during the night because we keep the A/C on 73 and then because her room is pretty small, it really cools down. I usually have her in long sleeves and pants but nothing on her feet. But tonight I put her in a full footed sleeper thinking her feet will get cold without the blanket covering them. I know mine would (but then, my feet are ALWAYS cold). I guess we'll just see how it goes.
This morning we went to Storytime and when we went into the restroom afterwards, I had one of those moments when your toddler says something to embarrass you. We were waiting to use the sink and the lady in front of us was wearing spandex (you know, the type of thing that most of us wouldn't dream about wearing out in public). She was not wearing a long shirt so her backside was clearly visible. Calleigh says to me, "She has a bum bum." I just pretended I didn't know what she was saying although I'm pretty clear that's what she said since she repeated it several times. So talking can be a good thing but I know there will be more times when I wish she would just keep silent!
Well, I'll end here since surprise, surprise, I need to go get something to eat. This time I'm having some fresh fruit so hopefully that won't be too bad. My next appointment is Wednesday so we'll have the weight in then!

Corey, my kids didn't sleep with blankets until they moved to a toddler bed. It bothered them to have something on them. I always had them in footed sleep-wear & they seemed to do just fine. Good luck in your search for the perfect sleeping scenario.
