Not too much has been going on the last few days as Calleigh's been battling some sort of illness. She woke up on Wednesday morning with a fever of 101.5 which progressed to 103 by the end of the day. Her nose started running and she developed a cough. It continued into yesterday and today so I finally decided to take her to the doc this morning although truthfully, I wasn't overly concerned that there was anything majorly wrong with her. She's been acting like her normal self and hasn't had any problems sleeping (hard to imagine with a stuffed nose and a binky in her mouth...). I talked to the nurse on the phone who said I could bring her in today or wait until tomorrow morning but frankly, I didn't want to have to deal with that on Sabbath morning. So, in we went at 11:15 and I was HOPING that in the five months since we were last there (for 18-month appointment) that she would have calmed down somewhat. Nope. She still freaked out big time. She wouldn't stand on the scale to get weighed and she went bananas when the doctor started looking into her ears, brought out the stethoscope, etc. As soon as the doctor left the room, it was like a switch was flipped. She was perfectly fine. Anyway, the bottom line was the the doctor didn't find anything wrong with her - - the strep test came back negative. She said just to monitor her and continue to give her Tylenol for the fever. She did say that it was possible that this was a predecessor to Roseola which, as you may recall, she had back in the fall. And I do remember that she had a temp before that happened although it was only in the evenings. We'll just wait and see what happens.
Late Wednesday afternoon, we got our van back. We took it in that morning because the part finally came in - - this was after not driving it since Thursday due to the malfunctioning air conditioning. As it turns out, that problem WAS related to the ceiling console that they had broken and all is well now that the console is fixed. We got our free window tinting out of it and I'm very pleased with the results.
Ron & Elaine got back from San Diego late Wednesday evening which was good timing since I had a doctor's appointment on Thursday morning. I was on pins and needles as I stepped on the scale and was hugely relieved when it turned out that I had only gained three pounds in the three weeks since I had last been there. Yay! The only bad thing was that I discovered I had been using the wrong starting weight this whole time which means I've gained four more pounds overall than I had thought. So right now I'm at a grand total of 27. With about 5.5 weeks to go, I'm hoping I can top out at 35 pounds at the most. Everything went well with the appointment itself and I go back in another three weeks on April 29.
This morning we didn't do any yard sales since there wasn't too much out there - - I'm guessing because of Good Friday. We ended up going to Publix where they were having a free Easter egg hunt. Calleigh had her little brown bag with a handle on it and walked around the perimeter of the store looking for baskets with eggs in them. She got quite excited when she would find one. When we left, they gave her another bag with crayons, coloring books, and other goodies and she also got a balloon. Honestly, I'm sure she had no idea that there was actually anything IN the eggs as finding them was excitement enough but I couldn't resist opening a couple to see what was inside. As expected, it was candy. Fortunately she showed no interest in it and I quickly closed the eggs back up. We will not be partaking of any candy for sure. The last thing we need is a miniature Alison Edwards on our hands. We're having an Easter egg hunt at Ron & Elaine's on Sunday but we'll be filling our eggs with berries.
A few other Calleigh tidbits:
- Duncan has been having Calleigh help him make coffee the last few mornings - - which no doubt means that she'll insist on helping every morning from now on. I think her favorite part is putting in the Splenda since she seems to talk about Splenda a lot now....
- One of Calleigh's favorite things to do is to look at "Mommy's belly." I asked her this afternoon if she would sing a song to baby sister and she sang the whole first verse of "Jesus Loves Me" by herself to my belly.
- Speaking of singing, quite a few times recently when I've been singing with Calleigh, she's told me "No Mommy." Has she finally figured out that I don't have a good voice???
Finally, here are pictures both taken at 33 weeks, 2 days of being pregnant. The first picture is when I was pregnant with Calleigh, the second was taken a few days ago. I seem to look quite a bit smaller this time but maybe it's just the angle or what I'm wearing...

You do look quite a bit smaller! Maybe she's just not all out in front this time??? Who knows! Will be interesting to see what she weighs when she is born!
Corey,
I'm not so sure I enjoyed that comment about Alison Edwards! She is the best! And why wouldn't you want your daughter like her? Alison's Mom
Well, come on now. We know that if anyone else besides Alison had a candy habit like she does, we would weigh 300 pounds. How she manages to stay thin, I have no idea! I would love to have a daughter like her in all other ways MINUS the candy habit!
