Almost looks like a little smile but I'm sure it's just gas.
Thursday we didn't do much. Friday we found a few yard sales despite the crummy weather. The second place had two and five year old girls there and Calleigh and Aubree ran around with them for a little bit while I shopped. When we left there I asked Calleigh if they had a good time and how old the girls were. Calleigh told me the little one was two but that "Aubree is a much better talker." Right now Calleigh is into who does things better and all that. So she'll tell me things like "I color much better than Aubree" or whatever. I keep reminding her that we don't have to talk about who is better at what.
Since it was kind of raining and I had run out of good yard sales, we decided to hit the mall for a bit. Calleigh played with another little girl we found named Calleigh (although I doubt it was the same spelling) and she was very tickled about that fact. I don't think we've run into another girl with the same name before. Aubree sat on the side lines and I noticed she felt a little warm. Once we got home, I took her temp and it was 101.8. I've been battling this never ending cough or the last three weeks but haven't had any other symptoms at all so it seemed unlikely I had given her anything but who knows. There's been a lot going around. After naps, Duncan took them over to his parents for the pool and when she got home, she conked out on the couch. She still felt warm and I gave her some more ibuprofen. I made the decision last night that we should probably skip out on church...which I absolutely hate to do but sometimes you just have to.
This morning she didn't feel warm at all and she seems to be back to normal. I guess it was just another one of those unexplained fevers that kids gets. Nonetheless, we still steered clear of church just to be sure. Instead, we took a picnic lunch over to Lake Lotus Park. We went on a nice long walk on the boardwalk. Most of it is covered by the trees so despite the heat, it's not too bad. There's really not good signage on the trail so we kept taking turns not really knowing which was the way back but thankfully we found it just in time. Calleigh was just about at that point of getting whiny about walking for so long.
So yeah, that burp cloth does look a little low on his face. I did fix it after this picture.
Looking for gators. We didn't see any.
This evening David and Yully came over for a visit and ended up staying or supper. We hadn't seen them in several weeks so it was nice to catch up.
Oh yes, I'm forgetting the big thing that happened Thursday. It was surgery day for Dewey. Duncan dropped him off on Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon, $600 and like 100 stitches later, we picked him up. I knew it was going to cost a few shekels and we kept delaying the inevitable as long as we could but in the end, I just got too sick of the blood leaking all over the house. He had all these lesions on his belly that would open up at random times and bleed. Drove me nuts. So they cut him open on both sides of his belly and removed them all. It's crazy to look at because he has stitches all down both his right and left side. We weren't too happy with the aftermath as far as the vet goes. We love the vet himself but the operation that he has running leaves much to be desired. First off, the charged me $9.50 for a cone on his head without even asking if I needed one (I had one from his last surgery, plus we find them useless). When I asked them for the refund and looked closely at the bill, I noticed they had charged me for two of them. Oops. I also noticed on the bill that they had charged $25 for his bandaging. That seemed a little steep. It felt even more so once we got home and within the hour, Duncan noticed that blood was leaking out. That prompted a very speedy trip to CVS in which we spent almost another $25 on new bandaging (although we had a lot of leftovers to be used on future needs at least). Clearly they didn't know how to wrap an Italian Greyhound. We had the same problem last week when he went in for his assessment. Finally, I got really perturbed when I almost overdosed him on his antibiotic. You may remember that I mentioned that we got something for him to take because they thought he had MRSA (which evidently he didn't). Well, when we left on Thursday, they gave me a bottle of pain pills and then a bottle of an antibiotic. So Friday morning, I go to give him his now two antibiotic pills, since we still had some of the stuff for the MRSA. I put the pills in some cheese but one pill fell out. That's when Duncan stopped and questioned me and we discovered that the new antibiotic pill was the EXACT same as the other one. That really ticked me off because apparently nobody had looked at his chart and said "Hey, he's already on this antibiotic so we don't need to give them a second bottle." Not to mention that we had paid $32 for the pills. We did talk to them and they're giving us a refund on the pills but I"m really re-thinking going to this vet anymore. If I did't like Dr. McAbee so much, I'd already be gone.
Back to the kids...the girls are still very much into Brady. The intrigue hasn't died out quite yet. Calleigh is very protective of him. When Aubree is anywhere near him, she watches her like a hawk. If Aubree so much as breathes wrong on him, Calleigh will reprimands her very loudly (to which Aubree will usually complain with a pout by saying "Don't talk to me" or "Don't say that to me, Calleigh."). In a sense I'm pretty happy about that because it's nice to have a second pair of eyes on the situation because Aubree isn't exactly the most gentle with him although she hasn't tried anything too outlandish yet.
I've started my exercise routine now that we finally got the treadmill cleared off (clearly we hadn't used it in awhile!). I'm walking 40 minutes (one Dr. Laura podcast plus three minutes) a day and my goal is to do it every day until we leave for Nova Scotia. So far I'm four for four. Do I have the willpower to do it every single day? That is the question. I just keeping about the 15 of the 36 pounds I have remaining to lose and that gets me going. When we get back from Nova Scotia, I'll start in on the weights since I think that will be the thing that will really help me. I can't start those until six weeks postpartum or I'd be doing them now.
Have a nice rest of the weekend.

Glad Aubree is feeling better. We did miss you guys at church but wasn't sure if you had told us you were out of town or something. We'll have to get together again soon.

Poor Dewey. Still miss my girls from time to time. You have your hands full!
Glad Dewey is better, but the vet situation seems a bit to be desired. 10 pounds at 1 month!!!!!! Holy Cow! Keep up the good work!
