This afternoon we went over to Ron and Elaine's pool so that Calleigh could get some practice in and so that Aubree could take her first dip in the pool. She wasn't too excited about being in there at first, maybe it was a little cold I don't know, but she warmed up to it after a few minutes. As you can see, she likes to stick out her tongue for the camera! Anyway, Calleigh had a blast jumping in, going down the slide, and being rowdy with Duncan. I went in too...a rare occurrence.
Calleigh second swimming lesson was a rousing success. She didn't cry or hold back a bit. I figured she just needed to get used to what was going on. One of the screaming kids from last time apparently already dropped out as he wasn't there yesterday and one other little girl, Lizzie, screams like she's having her toenails ripped out. Poor thing. The mother was in a quandary over what to do. Apparently Lizzie enjoys the water so she's not scared...she's just doesn't like someone else teaching her. So do you make her do it or give in? I guess if I was a mother expert I would know the answer. Fortunately I'm not having to make that decision with Calleigh. Elaine came with us to the lesson which was very nice because I was able to walk around with Aubree who got a little antsy. And Calleigh amazes me with what she notices. She told me later that the teacher, Miss Alicia, had different hair this time; she didn't have a ponytail like the time before. She was right.
This morning we were back to yard sale-ing which I had missed being gone the last two Friday's. The weather is obviously getting almost intolerable while out but not bad enough to keep me away. My primary purchase was nine pairs of shoes at $0.25/each. Five of them were "play" shoes that a kid would wear while playing dress up. Calleigh loves them and when it was time for her nap, she made three trips up and down the stairs to bring them up to line up in her room while she napped in her crib.
As we've been walking in the evenings to walk the dogs and get the mail, we've been meeting a lot more neighbors. Recently we met a lady named Judy from Worcester who just bought a place in our neighborhood. She moved here to be closer to her daughter and grandchilden (I would say hint hint but obviously that would be a waste of typing.) She has an awesome greyhound named Boston. How cool is that name? Anyway, we saw her again yesterday as she strolled around with her daughter, grandson, and granddaughter (the grandkids are just about the same age as Calleigh and Aubree). Before I go on, let me pause here to say that Duncan and I have been in a friendly disagreement on what to call body parts. I'm of the belief that they should be called by their real names (although I don't always follow that with what I call the body part that supplies milk) while Duncan would prefer to give them more "tame" nicknames. He keeps saying that he knows that Calleigh will say something to embarrass us. So continuing on with my story. There we are talking to Judy and her little family while Dewey and Marlee cozy up to Boston (it's amazing how the normally skittish Marlee seems so comfortable around greyhounds as if she realizes that they're her kin) and seemingly out of nowhere Calleigh says to us all "Aubree like to play with Dewey's penis." Insert uncomfortable silence here. But let's be honest, even if Calleigh had called it something besides penis, it would still have been quite awkward.. I think I've mentioned in a previous post that Aubree likes to grab Dewey there and I say "no" whenever she does it but obviously Calleigh has noticed what's going on. I think I need to have a little chat with Calleigh to explain the difference between "playing" and grabbing something that sticks out simply because you're a baby and don't know any better. In the meantime, hopefully Judy doesn't think we're freaks.
I hope everyone enjoys the Mother's Day weekend. We'll be heading to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday and then on to Ron and Elaine's for supper. I told Calleigh that she should tell Daddy what I want for Mother's Day, thinking I could use her to drop a major hint. I told her several times over what I wanted her to say but when Duncan asked her today, she told him I wanted a Barbie. So much for that great memory I talked about before!
Have a Happy Sabbath.

Ok so I'm so jealous of all this swimming. I can't wait to be down there in June to go swimming!!! With Camden of course, who I'm sure will love it, at least he has before. And I have to say I'm with Duncan on the body parts. Definitely not looking forward to Camden saying embarrassing things. =)
Love the shoes...you think she is ready for a DSW gift card for the third birthday?
