Gigi is Here!

Late this afternoon we picked up my mom from the airport. She's just here for a short visit but we'll take whatever we can get. Calleigh is understandably excited to have her here and pretty much talked to her non stop until she went to bed. And then even more after that. She started calling "Gigi, Gigi" once she was in her crib. One of the times was to announce to her that she had gone # 2 although not in those words. So yes, Gigi got the pleasure of changing her. Hey, I want my mom to be able to experience everything she's missing, right??

We had a wonderfully busy weekend. Saturday night was the big PumpkinFest at the Isidro's. We left Calleigh with Grandma and Grandpa but Aubree came along for the ride. Since she doesn't take a bottle/I'm too lazy to pump, she pretty much goes wherever I go. She was a peach though. We brought her pack 'n play with us and put her down at bed time in their spare room and she went right to sleep without a peep. I felt bad having to wake her up when we left but when we did, she gave Duncan a huge smile as if to say "It's okay that you woke me up Daddy. I'm just happy to see you." She's really such an easy baby. Knock on wood. Anyway, we had a great time as we usually do. The games were lots of fun although I did come to the realization that I don't know virtually any songs that have come out in the last three years. We had to guess song lyrics and I hadn't even heard of the songs let alone remember the lyrics for them. To be sure, the only songs I hear are kids songs and let me tell you, I know every SINGLE lyric to those dandies. It's just as well I didn't win that game because I'd hate to win them all. Yes, that's right....I won tank again this year. Second year in a row. I have to give props to my partner Jenny though because I couldn't have won it without her. On a related note, David and Yully won the food contest with their pumpkin stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin gravy. I kept it low key so they could win :) I have to just say a special thanks to Allen and Adam for the great job they did with the whole thing. It's a big job to pull off something like that for 50+ people but they do it ever year flawlessly.

Sunday afternoon we hit up the Fall Festival at FLEC (Forest Lake Elementary Center). I've lived here eleven years but it's the first time I've been to the school which is very close to the Forest Lake Church. We enjoyed the "petting zoo," bouncy house, playground, and food. We ran into a bunch of people we knew and a fun time was had by all. I think the highlight for Calleigh was getting to have a few sips of a Pina Colada that came with it's own little umbrella. Those things don't have THAT much sugar, right? For whatever reason, she didn't take her nap that afternoon after we got back. Hmmm.

Monday morning I went to the dentist for my cleaning. This time Aubree stayed behind with Grandma and Calleigh. I learned my lesson after last time! Thankfully I was able to time it just right between her feedings. The good news from the dentist is that they're going to replace two of my veneers free of charge. As I've written in other posts, I've had nothing but trouble with these things since I got them. Hopefully this will rectify part of the problem. The replacement is going to take 90 minutes (assuming I get in right away) so I scheduled it for mid-December. I figure Aubree will be on solids by then so she can go longer between nursings. And speaking of the dentist, it looks like Duncan is going to be getting his wisdom teeth out in the very near future. He had x-rays taken and the bottom ones don't look pretty.

I think we've pretty much adjusted to the hour time change. Aubree woke up at her usual time on Sunday morning which was, of course, an hour earlier then I would have liked. But I kept her up late Sunday night and that got her back on course. The good news is she's taken very long afternoon naps yesterday and today. In fact, I even had to wake her up from her nap today in order to go to the airport. Oh please, please, let this long nap thing happen every day!

That's it for now. An early night tonight I think.

As I've said, pictures are becoming more rare here because of the time it takes to upload them.
