Our big accomplishment of the day was (finally) lowering Calleigh's crib. She has never attempted to get out but if there is one thing I've heard from the baby safety experts, it's that you should anticipate what a baby is going to do - - don't wait until they actually do it. Of course, now she is practically sleeping on the floor it seems and I was a little concerned that this new landscape would throw her off a bit. She ended up having about 5-10 minutes of crying and then she was fine. I don't think that had anything to do with the crib. Now lowering the crib isn't just as simple as lowering the rails. Once it is lowered, you then have to survey the area and see what new things she can get into. There is an outlet with her nightlight that she could quite possibly reach. Blankets and toys stacked next to her crib are now a grabbing hazard. So I ended up having to move the crib about a foot and moving all the other stuff out of the way. I think we're safe now. Let me tell you though, just thinking about all the trouble babies can get into safety wise is enough to make you go bonkers.
Earlier in the afternoon, Calleigh took another almost 2 hour nap. I say another because she's been doing this every afternoon for the past 5 days now. This is a new thing and I'm sure it's because of all the physical activity she's getting. She will not sit still. She is into everything. You open the refrigerator to get a drink and a second later you look down and there she is taking the blue cheese out of the side door. How did she get there so fast?? I sit her down with her toys to go wash my hands in the kitchen and no sooner have I gotten to the sink then she is already on stair number two going up without a glance down. And to think she's only crawling. Just wait until she's walking. But I'm enjoying every minute of it!
