Calleigh said a new word today! I'm sortof tempted to say that she said her first word. She's been saying "ma, ma, ma, ma" and "da, da, da, da" for a while now but I don't know if I should officially count those as a word since she hasn't precisely said "mama." So the word today could be her first or third word depending on how you view it. Yesterday afternoon I brought out her doll and started playing with it with her quite a bit and kept repeating "baby." We continued that this morning and before you know it, she's saying "baby." She repeated it some more this afternoon. She doesn't necessarily say it on demand but she's said it enough times that I'm convinced she knows the doll is her baby. Just in case you're wondering, her baby is the doll that Aunt Lori gave her in June. So who do you think the doll looks like?
Duncan and I had a lovely time this evening. Ron & Elaine came over around 7 to stay with Calleigh while Duncan and I met up with Aunt Toni, Uncle Terry, Alison, and Heath. Our original plan was to eat at the Cheesecake Factory at the Mall at Millenia. We were anticipating using our gift card we had gotten from Shannon. But alas, there was a 65 - 90 minute wait. Needless to say, we went elsewhere. We ended up at the California Pizza Kitchen (also in the mall) which I do like having eaten there in October in Fort Myers with Mom. It was so nice to eat out without having to entertain a baby at the same time!! What a treat. The food was good too. I split a Tostada pizza with Uncle Terry and had a nice soup. To top it all off, Terry and Toni treated us. After the meal, the Copseys and Edwards went to a movie and Duncan and I headed for home with a stop at Borders. Sitting in a book store and looking at magazines is one of my favorite things to do - - that doesn't happen all the often any more.
Since it's been a few days since I've posted an update, I'll also mention that we've had an enjoyable last few days. On Thursday, Calleigh and I drove up to Leesburg to visit Aunt Toni at the Holiday Travel Resort where their motor home is parked. Alison met us there. We ate lunch in the motor home and then tried to go swimming in the pool but it was closed for some reason. Calleigh was quite disappointed as she loves to swim! After that, we visited my friend Karri at Leesburg Hospital where she works and then I got to see her new house for the first time. Gorgeous! Yesterday was the first event, Volleyball, in the Finance Olympics (no, not the special olympics as I hear Shannon calls them. I asked Toni about what makes us special and she says "Because you're in finance." I guess some could say that is a handicap!) and since I'm the commissioner, I went to oversee the festivities. Calleigh actually seemed to enjoy it. She sat on my lap and watched the ball go back and forth over the net. I didn't think we would last long but we stayed for about an hour. So it entertained her for quite a while (well, that and the puffs she was eating). Aunt Toni and Alison were there to check out the scenery if you catch my drift!

Congratulations!!! That is so exciting. I'm sure she'll be talking up a storm by the time we see her.
