Another first

Calleigh has another "first" and unfortunately it wasn't I who witnessed it. I did get to witness the "second." It happened yesterday while Alison was here and I was in the shower. Calleigh was standing up playing with her musical table. At one point, she looked at Alison and started clapping her hands which means she wasn't holding on to anything nor was she leaning against the table. She stayed like that for a second and then stopped - - probably when she realized what was happening. Alison reported this to me and I was somewhat incredulous (maybe she hadn't seen her leaning on the table) but later that afternoon she did it again while I was watching. It was so cute to watch her face when she suddenly realized that there was nothing holding her up and she quickly leaned into the table. She didn't repeat it today so we'll just wait and see what happens next.

For some reason last night she woke up around 4:30 and I couldn't get her to go back to sleep by just putting her binky back in. I toke her out of the crib and laid down with her on the guest bed but that plan was quickly scrapped when she started crawling all over the bed. I ended up putting her back in her crib and put her music on and that did the trick. When she woke up a little before 8 (which is about an hour later than usual), she had a big deuce in her diaper so maybe that was the problem all along and I didn't realize it (although I do usually have a nose for those things now...)

At any rate, I think this messed her up for the day because she seemed a bit grouchier then usual. Or maybe it was just because she saw the end of the Sox game this morning and she didn't like the final score! Despite that, we did have a nice day with Alison and Toni visiting. We ate lunch here and then went to the Salvation Army since they have 50% off on Wednesdays. Toni and Alison went to look at apartments for Shannon. They ended up liking Sun Key the best which was my old apartment (several apartments ago). I remember it well since when I left, I found about 100,000 mice droppings in the back of our sectional. We had a big problem with mice there (you think?). Of course, that was about 6 years ago so I'm sure there aren't any problems now...hopefully.

This evening I got to show Calleigh off when I met up with some work friends at Smokey Bones. It's always a bit of a challenge to keep her entertained while we're at a restaurant but we did have a nice time. We've actually eaten out the last three nights (Copseys on Monday night and Ron's birthday Tuesday night) so we've had a bit of practice with her decorum.
