18 Months
Aubree turned 18 months on Friday so today we were off to see Dr. Anne. This time we weren't able to escape without any tears. As soon as the nurse had me take her clothes off, down came the tears. We were lucky she made it until 18 months without the crying since that's quite unusual. We got in all the measurements which you can see below and then Dr. Anne came in to check everything else. Honestly, she could barely do the exam or even talk about Aubree because Calleigh was perched on the exam table and would not stop talking. She talked about anything and everything that came into her mind. Dr. Anne commented that she could see why Aubree was doing so well with her development because of her big sister. Indeed, I filled out the 18th month questionnaire and as Dr. Anne said, Aubree is off the charts. Boy, what a difference a few months makes. It took her awhile but she finally got things rolling. My favorite thing of hers right now is listening to her count to ten. It's so cute! Once Dr. Anne was finally able to tune out Calleigh and do the exam, she noted that there was a little fluid in one of Aubree's ears. When she looked in her mouth, she noted that one of her molars is coming in on the top and then two other spots are very swollen. So she thinks it's from that. Fortunately it hasn't caused Aubree any sleeping problems as she's slept like a log since we returned from up north (where she certainly did NOT sleep like a log.)

Sabbath afternoon we went over to the Bergherm's for a Thanksgiving potluck. There were about five or six other families of our friends there which obviously equaled a whole bunch of kids. The potluck's purpose, besides us all getting together, was so that we could bring some stuff to donate a box to a women and children's shelter. I was happy that we could help out with that and of course, I was able to get a lot of good deals with my newly acquired couponing skills. The girls had a wonderful time playing with all the new and exciting toys and running around with all the other kids. As expected, Calleigh put up a fuss when we had to leave. But leave we did because Mommy needed her Sabbath afternoon nap! Saturday night we hit up the mall which is one of my favorite activities during the Christmas season. I just love it.
Sunday morning we went to the ABC to take advantage of their great sale - - buy three cases and get the fourth free. As luck would have it, I was in the market for four cases so it worked out splendidly. I was also able to purchase a few Christmas presents for the girls. It's so hard not to just give them stuff now when you know they'll really like it! But I will restrain myself.
Sunday evening Ron and Elaine came over for babysitting duty while Duncan and I had a night out to go to the Florida Hospital Foundation Golden Gala down at Disney. This year it was at the Contemporary Resort so that was a little different. I didn't really feel like buying a new dress so I ended up just wearing the one I wore four years ago (when I was pregnant with Calleigh albeit a little further along). We enjoyed the evening and although the soup and salad were fantastic, the main course left a little to be desired. For some reason, when places do vegetarian meals, they seem to think they need to make some fancy, weirdo concoction and inevitably, I never like it. But hey, it was free and the rest of the courses were great so who am I to complain?? The entertainment this year was Diana Krall, who I've heard of, but have no clue as to her voice or what she sings. It worked out great because we didn't feel bad when we left before she came on. We had taped the Pats/Colts game from 4:15 and I was most anxious to get home and watch it. Fortunately, I was not disappointed although it was touch and go there at the end. I think I almost started pacing. Anyway, interesting note on the parking. I persuaded Duncan to just do valet parking because I didn't feel like walking and we were cutting it close on the time. Thankfully Duncan did have some cash because we needed to give a tip. Neither of us had a clue on what an appropriate tip is for this kind of thing. As it turned out, Duncan only had a $10 so I said, let's just give that. When he gave it to the guy, he was shocked and thanked Duncan profusely so we realized it was a bit much. I guess the rich people in the fancy cars aren't quite as generous!
That's it for now. I need to figure out what pies I'm making for Thanksgiving and also work on my Christmas shopping.
