Welcome Tyson!!

We didn't see this one coming.  Alison and Heath had their baby today, three weeks and a day earlier than he was due.  At the beginning of the week, Alison was put on bed rest because her amniotic fluid was getting low.  All I can say is, better her than me!  I can't imagine what you would do in that situation if you had children already.  Anyway, she had another ultrasound yesterday and when they found it had gone down even lower (in the low 4's for anyone in the "know" on these things), they decided to do it today.  The poor kid didn't even have a name or a car seat yet!  Because he was breach, Al had to have a c-section and at 1:48 pm, little Tyson Keith Edwards came into the world at 5 pounds, 8 ounces and perfect.  I couldn't be happier!  It is such an incredibly happy ending to a story that started a number of years ago, really.  I wish I could have been there for the birth, obviously, but at least when I go up in a few weeks, I'm assured to see him.  Can't wait!

In more mundane news,  I had a few more days this week of none napping for Calleigh.  I don't like those days one bit.  Unfortunately it becomes this cycle that's really hard to break.  When she doesn't nap, then she falls asleep very early in the evening.  And when she does that, she gets more sleep at night and thus doesn't need a nap.  On Wednesday, we went to the splash playground and I was thinking that would break the cycle because she would be sure to get exercise.  Well, she didn't splash too much and then when we went to the regular playground section, she spent most of the time chit chatting with these two other little girls.  At one point, I overheard her tell them, "You should come to my house.  It's really cool."  I had no idea she felt that way but good to know!  As it turned out, no nap was forthcoming so I knew that Thursday I would have to shake it up a bit.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, Yolanda and Emma ended up coming over on Thursday morning (as opposed to doing our usual grocery run).  Before they arrived, I had Calleigh ride her trike around the circle of the neighborhood twice (with me pushing Aubree on another trike).  After they left, we rode around again and then I put Calleigh through a bunch of exercise from jumping jacks, to red light, green light, to jumping up and down as many times as she can in a row (about thirteen in case you're wondering).  Then I said a prayer and waited for the magic to happen.  It grew silent pretty quickly up there so I snuck up for a peak and sure enough, she was conked out on the futon in almost a sitting up position.  Yup, the futon.  That's her new bed.  I've at least gotten her off the floor.  Duncan moves her each night into her crib.  I'm hoping that over the weekend we can get some new sheets on something to jazz up the bed/crib so she'll want to sleep in it again.

Aubree's first hair bow.

This morning we did our usual yard sales and then we did the exercise routine and thankfully, it once again resulted in a nap.  Hopefully the cycle has been broken.  She's still awake (at 10 pm) right now (maybe excited about Sabbath?  She asks me almost every day, "When is it going to be Sabbath again?")  so that bodes well.

I can't think of much else of interest right now.  Oh, I should mention that Aubree is definitely calling her binky a minky, and she calls nursing "boo-boo."  I think she might be trying to say "boobie" but obviously it's not quite working out.  She was so cracking me up today when we were at a yard sale.  They were walking around this one sale and the lady whose sale it was started talking to Calleigh.  Calleigh was wearing her "white wedding shoes" as she calls them (really these sparkley shoes that she was going to wear for a wedding but never did and now they're really too small and when she puts them on, it's like one of the stepsisters trying to fit into Cinderella's glass slipper.  But I digress...) and asks the lady if she liked her shoes as sticks out her foot for admiration.  She lifts up her skirt a little bit as she does it.  In a flash, there's Aubree sticking out her Croc to the lady, saying something that only she herself can understand, and then she lifts her whole dress up.  She MUST be like her sister no matter what.

Have a Happy Sabbath!

What your house looks like when you DON'T turn on the TV while you're making supper.  We don't know any other way!

Daddy built a fort under the table for the girls.

Aubree now climbs up on the stool too so she can brush her teeth just like Calleigh (which I actually do but Calleigh likes to do it for a minute or two by herself first.)  Aubree even spits even though she has no toothpaste on hers.
