Happy Friday!

Nothing too exciting has happened with us in the last few days but I thought it would be better to post now while I have some down time.

Yesterday found us doing our usual Thursday activity...grocery shopping.  Except now instead of just going to Walmart, we're hitting up Publix too all in the name of saving money.  Publix was our first stop and as I reach into my bag to grab my wallet to pay, I remembered that I had put the wallet in the stroller pocket on Wednesday night when we walked over to the farmer's market and of course, forgot to take it out when we got home.  I HATE it when I do that.  They were nice enough to put my bags in the fridge somewhere while I trekked home to get the wallet.  When we got home after Walmart, I realized that I was missing my pineapple from Publix so apparently it got lost in the shuffle of bags.  I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned (fortunately they were on sale this week so at least I hadn't paid full price!).

Last night we went over to Ron and Elaine's to have dinner since Adam, Ron's son, was visiting from Virginia with his girlfriend Megan.  We hadn't seen Adam in ten years so it was great to see him especially since he's such a nice guy.  When we got there, Elaine reported that Adam and Megan had gone in the pool for a dip but it had been very quick since the pool was pretty nippy.  That didn't stop Calleigh one iota.  She got right in and said it wasn't bad at all and then proceeded to go down the slide a bunch of times.  After about 20 - 30 minutes, she was shivering so badly that I told her she needed to get out and fortunately she didn't put up a fight.  Adam came down to see his grandfather (Ron's dad) since he's getting on in years (about to turn 91) and he's moving into an assisted living facility.  When Calleigh heard that Adam was coming, she immediately asked if Eve was coming with him.  I hope I didn't crush her spirits.

This morning we were up to our usual and let me say, it's definitely the peak of yard sale season.  I was actually almost depressed when it was one o'clock and we had to go home because there were a bunch more that we never made it to.  I don't like leaving some on the table!  That being said, it was a slow day despite the number of ones we went too.  But Calleigh did find a "new" Barbie so that was the important thing!

In other news, I had a slightly awkward time yesterday morning getting dressed.  I had disrobed, as one usually does when they are getting dressed in the morning, and Calleigh comes flying down the hall into my room and states "It's okay if I see your naked bum bum because I'm your daughter" and then proceeds to look at in intently and tells me that she really likes it.  Okay, thank you.  Then, Aubree comes into the room just as I'm going to use the facilities.  Have you ever seen a picture of baby robins sitting in a nest with their mouths open as they wait for their mother to bring them some worms?  Well, that's exactly how Aubree looked.  Except instead of sitting there waiting for me, she followed me to the toilet and started to climb up me with her mouth wide open trying to get to the goods.  Any thoughts of weaning her as she approaches seventeen months have definitely been tabled.  But seriously, can't a person just go to the bathroom in peace??

In the last post, I was talking about Aubree's words.  One of the ones I forgot to mention was that she now says "yeah."  She's had the "no" down for a very long time so I'm glad she's added this one and that she uses it correctly too.  If you say "Aubree, do you want some fruit?"  she'll say "Yeah" and nod her head vigorously up and down.  We've even gotten a "yeah" when we've asked if she has poop (which she did.)

Calleigh is still talking about Jonah in earnest today.  I think it's having some strange effect on her too because in her evening prayer tonight she said "And Jesus, please don't let things get near me and eat me."  She said it very matter of factly and not with fear or great concern.  When she was done, I asked her what kinds of things she was talking about and she said "You know, like dinosaurs, lions, tigers, alligators, crocodiles."  I was surprised that whales weren't mentioned as I've answered or tried to answer, so many questions about the great whale.  Even this one, "What was Jonah thinking about when the whale swallowed him?"  I said "I don't know, probably 'Oh no, I'm about to die.'"  I don't know exactly when it was that Jonah, while sitting down there in the belly of the whale, realized he had been saved but VeggieTales definitely suggests it was when God sent a big angel choir down to sing him a song.  That whale must have thought he had eaten some really bad fish!

Have a Happy Sabbath everyone!
