Yay! It Feels Like Spring!

Today I finally felt like I live in Florida.  Sure, it's been nice a few days recently but today it felt warm.  Actually, maybe too warm.  I think I may have started to sweat a little when we were doing our yard sales.  But I'll take it...at least for now.  It's so nice not having to put on socks and it sure is a lot easier checking for a dirty diaper when there aren't layers of clothes blocking you.  During our walk around the neighborhood, Calleigh noticed the sprinklers were on so she dashed over to get wet.  I thought it was a great idea until Duncan reminded me that it isn't clean water coming out of there.  Oops.  Also on our walk, we officially met some of our neighbors who have a nearly 2-year old boy.  The live a few doors down and yes, I'm completely embaressed that I've never introduced myself before.  We always say hi if we happen to see them but I finally had a prolonged conversation with the mother.  But here's the thing.  I can now confirm that these are the people that I can see on my baby monitor.  Some time ago, I had inadvertantly put my baby monitor on frequency "B" instead of frequency "A" (which we usually use) and I realized that I was looking at someone else's baby.  It didn't take me long to figure out that if I can see their baby, then they can most likely see mine.  Kind of creepy in a way.  I can only see theirs in certain spots of my house and only at certain angles so at least there's that (not that I'm trying to see them).  The other day Calleigh was playing with the monitor and I hear her say, "Oh Mom, there's your bed."  I took a peak and nope, it was our neighbor's bed.  Apparently they moved the monitor from the baby's bed to point at their own bed.  So as I'm talking to my neighbor, she mentions that their son sleeps with them now and in my mind I was thinking "Yeah, I know."  Today Calleigh must have been playing with the settings again because when I turned it on, there was my neighbor folding clothes in her bedroom.  I really don't know what to do.  I feel like I should say something but on the other hand, that will alert them to the fact that they can see Aubree (if they haven't figured it out).  I suppose I could go buy another brand of camera but they're several hundred of dollars.  What to do, what to do....

We've been having some challenges with Calleigh and bedtime.  It's no secret that we've brought quite a bit of this on ourselves (although Duncan will probably distance himself from it so I should say "myself" rather than "ourselves") by allowing her to have books and such in her crib thus keeping her up later at night.  I've been so hesitant to change the routine because I'm worried that if she goes right to sleep when we put her in the crib, she won't nap in the afternoon and I just can't go without nap time.  Even though I'm working during their nap, it feels like a break.  Anyway, it all came to a head after we got back from Cape Cod and Calleigh had been spoiled staying up late and sleeping with Gigi.  She started crying and saying she was all by herself and then my personal favorite, "I'm scary."  I assume she meant "I'm scared."  (And even though I've corrected her numerous times, she insists on saying "I'm scary.")  Now keep in mind that her door is wide open, the hall light is on and no doubt she can hear the TV or us talking just down the stairs.  So I finally asked her, "Calleigh, what are you scared of ?"  Her answer?  "I don't like my toys."  Clearly, the whole "I'm scary" thing is just something she's coming up with to try to get our attention.  A few times I've been able to pacify her by giving her my "special" rock (a painted rock my mother got me from Baddeck in Nova Scotia) or even a picture of Duncan and me.  Some nights she's perfectly fine and never makes a fuss.  Anyway, one thing that I decided to do was to reduce her nap time and make it earlier so that she's more tired in the evenings and doesn't stay up late.  So far, it seems to be working fairly well.

Nothing much is new with Aubree.  Sometimes I think she's trying to say "Calleigh" because I hear her making the "Ca" sound but it's probably just my imagination.  Calleigh said her first word on March 29 so Aubree is running out of time if she's going to keep up with her sister in the verbal department.  I'm not counting on it.  Her bump/cyst is looking much better after a week plus on her antibiotic.  We go back on Wednesday for a follow-up appointment.

She's really been into pointing the last few weeks...

Last night we went over Ron & Elaine's to celebrate Ron's birthday.  So nice to sit on the back porch to eat!  Here are some pictures:

She fell out of the chair right after I snapped this picture.

Anyone need a copy of this book??

In closing, I don't think I've posted my schedule in a while so here it is so I can have it print to refer to some day:

7:00 am - Aubree wakes up and nurses
7:30 - Calleigh wakes up
7:30 - 8:15 - Breakfast
8:15 - 9:00 - Kitchen clean up, Worship, Play
9:00 - 9:30 - I take a shower (girls "play" in Pack 'N Play.  I say "Calleigh, gentle" like 100 times), get dressed.
9:30 - Aubree down for a nap
9:30 - 10:15 Calleigh takes a tub while I do laundry, clean bathroom, go through mail, etc.
10:15 - Aubree up from nap and nurses
10:45 - Leave to go do something
11:15 - 12:45 Go somewhere. Tuesdays - Storytime; Thursdays - Groceries at Walmart; Fridays - Yard Sales.  Mondays and Wednesdays are open to meet up with friends, go to the playground, doctor's appointments, etc.
1:00 - 1:40 - Lunch
1:45 - Calleigh down for a nap
1:45 - 2:00 Aubree nurses and goes down for nap
4:30 - Girls up from nap.  Aubree sometimes wakes up before this. (previous to this week with Calleigh's new schedule, she would sleep until 5:00)
4:30 - Aubree nurses
4:45 - Free time.  Usually we go for a walk or go to the farmer's market.
5:45 - Start supper.
6:15 - Girls eat (if Duncan gets home early from work, we may all eat).
6:45 - Duncan gets home and he and I eat.  Before Aubree was eating solids, Calleigh was fine eating later with Duncan and me.  But Aubree needs to eat earlier because she can't wait that long and Calleigh wants to eat as soon as she see's Aubree eating.
7:30 - Girls take a bath (usually every other evening.  Of course, Calleigh is in the tub every morning anyway so it's just Aubree not bathing every day).
8:00 - Story time (Aubree with me and Calleigh goes with Daddy)
8:10 - 8:25 - Aubree nurses
8:30 - Both girls in bed. (Aubree sawing logs in like 2 minutes and Calleigh like an hours if we're lucky).

I thought that was in closing but I thought of one other thing.  Calleigh doesn't watch any of her own TV shows but I do occasionally watch "The Price is Right" when I'm nursing Aubree.  I guess she does pay attention to it because the other day we were in the mall and there was a car parked in there with a for sale sign.  Calleigh got all excited and said to me "Look!  It's a BRAND NEW CAR!!"
