Birthday Party Fun!

This afternoon we went to a birthday party at My Gym up in Lake Mary for Lindsey (turning 4) and Ethan (turning 1) Hazen who are some friends from Sabbath School.  The My Gym is a big room with tons of stuff for kids to jump on, climb on, etc.  Calleigh had a blast and was constantly running from thing to thing.  You have to marvel at the attention span of a 2-year old.  About every two minutes or so she would move to another activity.  There were also some games that the people who run the place were in charge of.  But first all the kids sat in a circle and each of them had to say their name and then say Happy Birthday.  It got to Calleigh and she said her name and she volunteered that her sister's name was Aubree.  Then the hostess said "Say Happy Birthday, Calleigh" so she said exactly that, "Happy Birthday Calleigh."  Of course, everyone laughed but I don't think she quite got it.  The only thing that thing that she didn't really go for was when the hostess started telling stories about a godmother trying to escape from somewhere etc.  Calleigh got a little scared...probably because we aren't into any of the Disney stories with the princesses, godmothers and that sort of thing.  We had to assure her that it was all pretend.  We had pizza for lunch and that was topped off with cake and ice cream that Calleigh was only too happy to consume.  Aubree was there too and pretty much just sat there and watched everything that went on.  The party ended at 2 pm and by some miracle, both girls stayed awake on the way home but quickly fell asleep upon landing in their cribs (and yes, Mommy and Daddy also fell asleep very quickly upon landing in their beds!).

A great shot of the twins!

On Monday night, I picked Shannon up at the airport and it was like old times with her around.  This was her first visit since ditching us in July.  Her ultimate reason for being here was going on a cruise over the weekend with Megan but she was kind enough to spend Monday night - Friday morning with us.  That came in particularly handy on Thursday morning when I had a meeting at work and Elaine was out of town and Duncan also had an important meeting he couldn't miss.  She was called into duty and did an excellent job.  On Wednesday night, Tiffany and Megan joined us for dinner and then they made a run to TCBY so we could have treats during American Idol.  That was about the only treat we had because we thought the guys singing weren't so good.  Thursday night was pizza night and the whole gang was here:  Shannon, Megan, Tiffany, David, Yully, Ron and Elaine.  Good times!

We didn't watch too much of the Olympics but we did catch some of the figure skating on Thursday night.  Apparently it was just enough to inspire Calleigh to become a figure skater.  Our wood floor quickly became a skating rink and she started "gliding" around and around using her footed pajama bottoms as skates.  And she took it very seriously.   I took a video of it but it hasn't finished uploading to YouTube yet.  I'll post it here when it's done so check back.

As I've mentioned, three of the cousins are getting married this year so we have a few dates to save.  Shannon and Sean decided not to go to the expense of making formal "save the date" notices so Shannon was kind of enough to make a home made one for our fridge!

Friday morning we did our yard sales although without much success although Calleigh did score a little Mickey Mouse doll that prompted her to tell me "Disney World is so lovely."  I'm POSITIVE she didn't hear that from me.

Aubree has made some crawling progress this week.  She's started creeping backwards when she's on her belly.  So that's something at least.  The other thing that she does that I keep forgetting to mention is that she'll wave her hand when you wave at her.  She's been doing that for several weeks now.  Still no sign of any teeth.  However, looking in her mouth for teeth reminded me of Calleigh so I took a look in her mouth and low and behold, Calleigh has some new molars coming in on the top.  I was expecting some at any time but hadn't thought to look until now.  Both of her upper ones are coming in but neither on the bottom yet.  Apparently they aren't bothering her because she hasn't said a word about it.  We got a referral for a good pediatric dentist so I'm going to be calling them soon to see if when we should bring Calleigh in.  I know many say that they should go at age one or two but my understanding is that they don't do a real exam or cleaning until age three.

I think that's all the news for now.  Have a great week!
