You Must Be Tired If..

...you sit down to make a blog post about your week and you can't remember a single thing you did.  Thank goodness for Sabbath.  As expected, this has been a busy week because it's audit time at the hospital.  So I've been putting in extra hours every night after the girls go to bed.  It's so nice to have a break from that.  I'll be working some more tomorrow night and Sunday too.

This week we met up with some old friends and made a new one.  Tuesday we were back at Story Time after a very long hiatus (it was still going on - - we were just busy).  There's a little girl there named Emma along with her mother Yolanda that we have befriended and will probably do a play date with in the near future.  However, she and Calleigh decided they wanted to play at the library so they took off running up and down the row of books.  Of course, that isn't proper behavior for the library (although we were in the kids section and there really wasn't anyone to bother) so I told Calleigh to stop.  Secretly, I didn't mind that she was running a little bit to get rid of some energy!  Anyway, she did stop but then a minute later, they were at it again.  I stupidly asked her "Why are you running after I told you to stop?"  Her answer?  "Because I need exercise so I can be healthy."  Glad she's been paying attention to that at least!

Wednesday we went to Amaya Papaya and met up with Kristine, Jonathan, and Jadyn.  Our schedules haven't jived in a long while so we were glad they finally did on Wednesday and we could spend some time with them.  You have to pay once your baby is eight months old so this was the last freebie for Aubree.  She and Jadyn enjoyed sitting on the floor next to each other and trading toys to suck on that I had brought.  I did stand her up to play with a few things - - she's definitely not doing that on her own yet.

Last night Uncle Charlie and Aunt Lori stopped by.  They are down in Florida at their time share for a week or so.  Calleigh very much enjoyed their visit and of course, insisted that they play with her.  We had fun with them again tonight when we went to Yully's for supper.  Her favorite thing though was helping Yully with the dishes.  Standing on the stool, she was just high enough to be able to wash the dishes in the sink.  Hmm, now that I think of it, was Yully putting those dishes in the dishwasher when Calleigh finished rinsing them?  Intriguing.  Yully never uses her dishwasher.

This morning we went yard sale-ing.  Yay!  After all the cold we suffered through the last few weeks, I was afraid this day wouldn't come again but fortunately the temps are back into the low 70's.  We only found a few but we made the most of it.  At one of our stops, there was a 3-year old girl named Amelia that Calleigh ran all over the place with.  We were there for at least a half hour because I was busy talking to the mother, Michelle, who is due to have a baby boy in May.  It turns out that Michelle and I were probably at the breastfeeding luncheons together but don't remember it.  Her mother is a lactation consultant so she is big into nursing and nursed Amelia until age 2+.  We had a lot in common so she gave me her number and I think we'll get together some time in the near future.  And yes, I did buy a few things too!

The cold weather was uncomfortable but it also caused some problems.  Our townhouse that rent out already had a plumbing problem in the second bathroom upstairs that we had to call a plumber for. I thought we would have a second job for him too because the pipes froze on Saturday night and when they unfroze, water started spraying out of the pipes (outside) and wouldn't stop.  We thought it was the utility company's problem but they quickly set us straight that it was ours.  Thankfully on Monday morning when the plumber went over to assess the bathroom problem, the water had stopped on its own...I think because they covered up the pipes with blankets on Sunday night and that solved the problem.  Whew, dodged a bullet on that one I think.  Anyway, the plumber did a great job and for a good price on the bathroom problem (no hot water would come out of the shower and there was just a trickle of water when you turned it to hot) so I would highly recommend him if anyone needs a referral.  Now if we can just keep the cold weather out of here we'll be all set.

I thought that Aubree might be getting sick last night.  She had a temp of 100.7 and her nose was slightly drippy.  And then she wouldn't go to sleep in her crib and I knew that wasn't a good sign.  I ended up putting her in my bed and letting her fall asleep there with me next to her.  This evening she had another temp of 101.2 but no drippy nose at all and she's been in a perfectly good mood.  And she fell asleep fine in her crib.  Maybe she's teething. I'm obsessed with running my finger on her gums looking for one.  Calleigh got hers on January 14.

Speaking of Aubree, I finally found some little snacks for her to eat.  They're called "Mum Mum's" and there very similar in concept to Puffs except there much bigger.  She hasn't had any problem with them.  I also gave her a few Puffs tonight for the first time and we got a kick out of watching her try to get them into mouth.  She really doesn't have the pincher grasp down yet so it's an adventure.  I've also taken to feeding her two meals of solids - - lunch and supper.  We're still on Stage 1 but I think we'll go to Stage 2 once I run out of the supply (which could be sooner than later with Calleigh still chowing down).

Calleigh's expression of the week is "So how is your day?"  Not long ago while we were all eating supper one evening I told her how it was important that we eat supper together so that we can talk about our day.  So now at every meal, and sometimes at random times during the day, she'll ask how my day is.  When I ask her how her day is going she replies, "I was at Thriftko and I broke my arm."  I have NO idea why she associates Thriftko (a thrift store nearby) with her arm incident but for some reason she does.  And she gives me that same answer every time.  Very strange.

That's all for now.  Time to make some meatballs for tomorrow's lunch.  Happy Sabbath!

Speaking of eating meals together--have I told you of the book, "The Surprising Power of Family Meals: How Eating Together Makes Us Smarter, Stronger, Healthier, and Happier"? It's quite good. By Miriam Weinstein. Do you remember how I had to make you guys sit at the table for at least 20 minutes for meals when you became teenagers? It was like death to you!

Calleigh turned to me Sunday night at dinner and asked, "how was your day?" I did not expect that, now I know where it came from. Brilliant!
