Wisdom Teeth

This picture would have been a lot cuter if they had won the game, huh?  I'm not going to waste any more time talking about the game because there really isn't much to be said except I at least won't have to worry about fitting a game into my schedule next weekend.

The big thing we have going on right now is Duncan's wisdom teeth removal which happened on Friday.  Unfortunately he has prohibited me from posting a picture of him.   I think chipmunks are cute but he wouldn't allow it.  Let's just say that if I ever need black mail material, I've got some great movies!  He had all four teeth removed and they were so impacted, they had to smash all the teeth up to get them out.  He's pretty swollen right now but fortunately the drugs have worked well and he's had only a little pain.  He did manage to eat some French toast at First Watch this morning so that was a good sign.   He's back to work tomorrow again ready or not.  He did luck out in one regard.  Marlee chose this time to get sick and throw up in the crate and in Calleigh's room.  Not only that, but they stunk like you wouldn't believe, probably from lying in it in their crate.  So by default, I had to be the one to clean it all up and give them a bath.  I was completely mystified because the vomit was bright red but it didn't look like blood.  I finally figured out that Marlee was eating these gel things that Calleigh had gotten that stick on the window pains.  Leave it to Marlee the pig to try to eat them.

The girls are well.  I'm reading a book I got for Christmas (thanks Aunt Lori!) by Dr.  Laura entitled "In Praise of Stay at Home Moms" and it's making my experience even more enjoyable and meaningful if that's possible.  Every day is a new adventure.  What exciting thing will one of the girls do today whether it be as small as Aubree turning her head and beaming at me when I say her name or or as big as Calleigh peddling her tricycle by herself for the first time?  I'm so glad I don't miss a single thing!   Along those lines, I forgot to mention that while we were in Boston, Duncan, Shawn, Camille, and I recorded two segments on my dad's radio program.  Yes, I'm practically famous.  Ha ha!  The topic was Christian Parenting and it just recently aired up there but is available any time on iTunes.  If you want to check it out, go to iTunes, search using the words "Portraits of God" and subscribe to the Podcast.  Our segments are titled "Christian Parenting I" and "Christian Parenting II."  I'm afraid to listen to myself but my mom said it came out well (yes, I know, a very unbiased source).

It's funny that although I went through the whole baby eating thing with Calleigh not that long ago, I barely remember any of it.  I've been trying to figure out just how much I should be feeding Aubree.  I've been feeding her solids one time a day, in the evening, and it's consisted of some rice cereal mixed with 1/2 to 3/4 jar of Stage 1 fruits and veggies.  The other day I put her in her highchair while Calleigh and I ate lunch, just to keep her occupied, and when she realized she wasn't being fed, she did NOT like that one little bit.  So she ate a whole portion then too.  Apparently she's got an appetite to eat more if I give it to her.  I haven't increased it to more times a day than the one yet but only because I'm kind of lazy.  But we are going through the baby food like crazy.  Turns out Calleigh loves it!  Whenever I start feeding it to Aubree, Calleigh comes over and insists on having some bites.  She'll then climb up into my lap and for every second or third bite that goes to Aubree, Calleigh gets one.  Whether it be prunes, green beans, or whatever yucky baby food you can think of, Calleigh devours it.  I've now just started giving her her own jar of food to make it easier.  Hey, I could think of worst things for her to like.

Aubree has been wonderful with the nap taking ever since we got back.  We are really on a great schedule.  She's taking her 1-hour morning nap about two hours after she wakes up and then she goes down for her afternoon nap from 2:15 - 4:15.  Sometimes she sleeps a little longer but usually it's at least two hours.  Yahoo!  Bedtime is roughly 8:00 and she's been going down with very little, if any, trouble.  Hopefully it won't all come to an end when she starts getting a tooth or something...which could be very soon if she follows the same schedule as Calleigh.

Some of Calleigh's new exciting things she's been up to the past week are finger paints and felts.  The finger paints were a Christmas gift from yours truly and she mostly likes to just put the paint on her hands and rub them together.  The paper has gotten very little play.  As for the felts, we hit the jackpot when my mother found all of her old felts in the back of her closet.  To buy how many she has would cost hundreds of dollars.  I remember how much I loved felts as a kid so I'm hoping to pass that joy on to Calleigh.  So far it looks very promising.  We went to the ABC on Friday and got a great felt board so today the felts officially came out.  Keeping them organized is going to be quite a challenge.

Another big piece of news is that Shannon and Sean are engaged!  Although it officially happened yesterday, I   already considered them unofficially engaged.  But we're glad it's now set!  The tentative plan is September/October.  So that makes three cousins getting married this year.  It is the year of the wedding.  We're glad at least one of the three is taking place down here so we don't have to get fly up three times.
And no, that isn't their kid :)

Finally, in closing, let me just say, thanks Amy Z. for telling me about the new editor feature for blogger.  I think it definitely made posting this much easier and faster!

Looks like you had a pretty busy day. Well, I hope Duncan had some luck with the recovery process. It's not fun to move around with those chipmunk cheeks.

All four?! Youch! But the best part of it is recovery, and having mom and dad be all extra doting, right? Love the pics, btw!
