Usually when we get back from Boston for Christmas, I box up the jackets and gear...not to be seen again until our next trip up north. Good thing I didn't do it this year. We went out for a walk this afternoon and Calleigh was decked out in her jacket, hat, and mittens just as if we were in Boston (although the picture below is from yesterday without the hat and mittens). I told my mother-in-law that this is definitely the coldest I ever remember it being down here. I left the dentist at 12:30 this afternoon and the thermometer only said 45. Where was this weather in the weeks leading up to Christmas when I would have enjoyed it so much more?? The one person it doesn't seem to be bothering is Calleigh who has been trotting around the house in a t-shirt, capris, and no socks while I'm bundled up in a turtleneck and sweater. The last week or so she has been having an obsession with pink clothes and absolutely insists on wearing only certain pink items like her pink bird shirt or pink shorts. I get her dressed, in nice warm clothes, and then two minutes later I turn around and there she is completely changed. And then she'll have a fit when I tell her she has to change to get outside because it's too cold. In fact, to go to Target the other day we had to put her turtleneck over her pink shirt - - it was the only way she agreed to wear something warmer. But anyway, as far as the weather goes, we did have to start using the heat a few days ago as much as I hate to do it. When your fingers don't bend very well because they're so cold, you know it's time. The only problem is that the downstairs is like 7 degrees cooler than upstairs (I think from the doggie door) and if you try to make it a comfortable temperature down here, you roast upstairs (we only have one thermostat). So it does cause a bit of a problem.
We were bundled up on Saturday night when we went to Light Up UCF with Ron & Elaine. Obviously it would probably been more festive to go before Christmas but we didn't have the time. They added a few new things since last year, one in particular being a Ferris wheel. We couldn't all fit together so Calleigh went with Ron & Elaine and Duncan and I took Aubree. Well, as soon as I got in the little car, it felt like a big mistake. I'm a bit afraid of heights in certain situations and it was one of those situations. I think Aubree's face pretty much says how I felt! But all went well and Calleigh very much enjoyed it. They added a carousel too but at $4.25 a ride, we decided to skip it.
A few new things with Aubree...last week she migrated to the big tub. So now Calleigh, Aubree, and I are taking baths together. She's still a little squirmy to put in there with me leaning over from the side so it's easier for me to just get in. Calleigh is quite tickled with us all being in there. And Aubree loves to splash. So it's a win-win for them. Me, I'm practically shaking from the tepid water that barely covers my ankles but hey, it's all worth it. We've also started giving her fruit in the little mesh netting thingy that she can just suck on. I finally remembered we had one of those things when we were cutting up some pineapple yesterday. I don't know how much she actually sucked on it but it did keep her entertained at least.
Speaking of Aubree, the poor little dear is suffering from some kind of dry skin, rash, or whatever you want to call it. It's right in her binky area. Maybe she's teething and it's causing extra saliva. Who knows. I know Calleigh had that for awhile although at a later age. I boiled all the binkies today so hopefully that will help. She's going for the second part of the flu shot tomorrow so maybe they'll have some insight there.
Between walks and all our new toys and stuff, we haven't gone any where the last few days (although I did got to the dentist today for veneer work. Don't get me started!). One of the projects we're working on is this neat thing that Duncan gave us for Christmas. It's called "The Year of Seeds." There are 12 cute little pots and each month we plant a different kind of flower in one of the pots and then we water it, etc and watch it grow. Naturally, Calleigh selected the pink pot for the first one which is the Pansies. Hopefully we will be able to report in 10 - 14 days that we see something growing in our pot!

That's all for now. Tubby time (without the girls!).
