Obviously I was dead wrong with my prediction! Clearly, just because your pregnancy is totally different the second time around, it doesn't mean that you're having a baby of the opposite sex from the first. And hardly any morning sickness doesn't mean it's a boy. My appointment was at 2:00 and they didn't call us back until a little after 2:30. Duncan and I were getting very antsy in the waiting room to say the least. When we had the ultrasound with Calleigh, the person doing the ultrasound (not sure what they're official title is) kept us in suspense until the very end. I was hoping it wouldn't be the same. Almost right away, the lady asked us if we had a feeling what it was. We told her a boy and a minute or two later she said, "I can't be a 100% sure but I think it's a girl." A few minutes after that, she came back to the area again and said, "Yup, it's a girl." As I looked at it, I remembered precisely that it was exactly how Calleigh looked so I knew that was right. Needless to say, we were pretty surprised at the news but very happy. Not that we really had a big preference either way but there are obviously advantages to having another girl, the least of which are financial. Plus, I truly wanted Calleigh to have a sister at some point since I never got to experience it myself (despite all the prayers that my mother's tubes would miraculously untie).
Of course, the biggest news wasn't the sex but the fact that baby appears to be in excellent condition. She has all the appropriate parts in all the appropriate places. Her heart, brain, and spine checked out very well and all her measurements added up to my being 20 weeks along. Her heart rate was at 145 which is where it should be. Great news!
After the ultrasound, I had my appointment with my doctor. It didn't last long but the one thing we did discuss was my weight. I barely gained a pound since my last appointment and in total, have only gained four during the pregnancy. I assured her that this was the same thing that happened last time that believe me, I'll make up for it. I gained about 40 in total with Calleigh. That appeased her. So we'll see what happens in four weeks. The other thing she told me is that at my next appointment (Feb. 2), they'll have the schedule out for May and I'll be able to schedule my c-section. It's so weird to be planning it that far ahead!
I, of course, called me parents with the news but that's about it. I was waiting for the big reveal. When Shawn and Camille got home from their appointment, we went on Gmail Video Chat. Camille and I held up a piece of paper with the sex on it so we could view it simultaneously. They're having a boy! So at least I got that one right. I was pretty sure on it and so were they. I was kind of hoping we would have the same (so the cousins could be close) but that's okay. The funny thing is that we had looked up the predictions on the Chinese calendar and the predictions came true in both cases. Not that we really believe that stuff but it's interesting how it was right for Calleigh and now both of these.
In other news, wait..is there any other news? It all seems a blur at the moment. No, but really, things have been fairly uneventful around here.
So that's that. I gotta go so we can work on baby names. So much for all the work we did on picking out a boy's name!!

For the record - Duncan did not assume it was a boy.
Congratulations--we are so thrilled to hear that everything looks great with the baby and were very happy to hear that it was a little girl (not that we had a preference); it was just exciting to think about the babies and picture each of your families with what you will be having! We are so happy for all of you.
Congratulations! I saw your mom and brother posted about your second daughter on Facebook. :) I know you must all be excited. Blessings!
