This evening we talked to Gigi on Google Video Chat. Without any prompting, Calleigh started trying to give Gigi's picture on the screen a kiss! We did actually prompt her for the picture above (once we had the camera set) but then she also tried to give her a hug as well. I guess that's what we have to settle for until they get down here in about two weeks.
Things have been pretty normal around here. On Tuesday, Calleigh and I did some shopping over at Old Navy and Babies R Us where I was able to get some great deals on long sleeve shirts that are apparently now out of season down here in Florida. Calleigh is officially into size 24 months in shirts - - most likely because of her big belly! After shopping, we met Duncan for lunch at Boston Market. I wouldn't necessarily want to eat out during the week but since I have my football pool winnings, I decided to treat us. As it had turned out, I didn't make Duncan's lunch on Tuesday because he had an early meeting so it all worked out.
After Calleigh's nap, I took her outside to ride her new bike. As it turns out, she really prefers to push it rather than ride on it. Go figure. Anyway, as she was pushing it around, we ended up next to our neighbor that is directly across the street from us. They are Asian but I can't say exactly what country although I'm thinking Vietnam or Korea maybe. It appears that it is a set of grandparents, a set of parents, two little girls, and a boy who is a little younger than Calleigh. I see them outside a lot but have never said hello. Now that may seem horrible of me but the truth is, I thought that they quite possibly didn't speak English. Some time ago I had gotten some mail of theirs accidentally and went over to give it to them. When they opened the front door and I explained what happened, they didn't even say hi, they just stared at me blankly. So I've been afraid to approach them since then. Well, Calleigh solved that problem. She pushed the bike over to the grandfather that was holding the little boy. As it turned out, I could barely understand a word he said but he kept trying to give Calleigh some of the boy's stuffed animals. As we were standing there, the girls came over (naturally, Calleigh tried to hold one of the girl's hands but she was too shy) and then the mother of the girls came over. And she went crazy over Calleigh! She started touching her face and her arms and talking excitedly to her. She then took Calleigh's hand and walked her to their garage (did I mention that they always hang out in their garage) to show her all the toys. Calleigh didn't even look at me as she was led away. Of course, I followed and fortunately, the mother could speak decent English so we were able to talk a little. Calleigh tried out all the toys and then I said we needed to go. Then out walks the father and gives Calleigh this little Christmas toy from Target that lights up and twirls when you press the button. I tried to give it back and they said to keep it. Apparently they are very generous with their things! So I guess you can say I officially know them know. However, I didn't ask the mother her name. I was sure it would be something I couldn't pronounce or remember (I saw it on their mail that one time) so I didn't ask. I suppose I should have.
On Wednesday, we went to the Salvation Army where they have 50% off on clothes every Wednesday. So for a few bucks, you can quell your shopping urges. Afterwards we headed over to a new playground behind the Winter Park YMCA but just as we pulled in, it started raining. Very disappointing! So we aborted that mission and went to the ABC instead. Although I'm ordering my veggie food on Amazon, there are some things you can't get by the case on there so you still have to go to the ABC now and then.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Calleigh and I drove over to Winter Springs and picked up some more clothes we bought on Craig's List. They were from the same lady we bought some stuff from a few months ago. We got 75 pieces of clothes for $7! Most of the stuff is size 2T and 3T and I did like most of it. It's worth the price just for the fun of opening the big trash bag of stuff when you get home and seeing what's inside!
We're excited because tomorrow is Christmas again! Aunt Toni will be arriving with all of our Christmas presents that we left behind at my parents. She's made the long drive all by herself with a stop overnight of course. We're so glad that she drove so we didn't have to pay to have it all shipped back. And I'll be so thankful that we'll get our umbrella stroller back that we had accidentally left there. It's been such a pain to have to take the Bob stroller places (way too heavy).
A few items that don't take a whole paragraph...I didn't get a calendar for Christmas so Shawn sent me a New England calendar he had made with his photography. What a treat....My friend from work who has three boys and had her ultrasound on Monday as well found out she's having a girl. She very excited about that as you can imagine...My grandfather Latimer would be turning 91 today....Calleigh has started chanting the phrase "buca, buca" and we have no idea where she got it from or what it's supposed to mean...
Well, I must get to work. It's year end close and all that. I didn't get as much work in today as I would have liked since Calleigh woke up early from her nap. For some reason she woke up this morning at around 6:15 and then from her nap at a little past 3:00 - - a good hour early in both cases.
