When we first got there, Calleigh was a little bashful. I was making the not-so-good Taco Salad in the giant kitchen and she was staying right by my side. Then, after about 7 or 8 minutes, she wandered to the door to peer out. After about 2 minutes of that, she decided it was safe enough to run through the halls. Fortunately some co-workers were able to corral her back to the kitchen. But she obviously had lost her bashfulness after that. Before we started eating, there were a bunch of 4 or 5 years olds dressed in Thanksgiving garb that came to sing for us. Calleigh stood on my lap and clapped after each song. In between two of the songs, Calleigh could clearly be heard saying/singing "Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?" Yes, that is one of the songs I had sung to her on the drive over. Later in the festivities, I was up front with the mic about to start the game. I had to put it down for a second to go do something. The next thing I know, I hear this loud little voice saying "ahhhh." Calleigh had grabbed the mic and decided to give it a try. I think she was a little surprised when everyone started staring at her!
As far as the eating went, she really didn't eat much, surprisingly. She had a bunch of cranberry sauce (a girl after my own heart) and some mandarin oranges out of a box that I had brought. Oh, and part of a homemade cookie. Maybe she was too distracted to eat much else, I don't know. We left a little before two which was clearly past her nap time. I tried keeping her awake with my singing but about halfway home, I couldn't take it any more. She was so tired and her eyes kept fluttering closed and she could barely open them when I tried to get her attention. I felt so bad that I just let her go. She probably slept about 10 minutes. Sure enough, we got home, I put her in her crib and she didn't want to sleep. But I was prepared to sit it out. After about 15 minutes, I saw her sitting in the corner, Indian style (is that politically correct??) and I though maybe she lost her binky so I went to check on her. In her lap, was a big pile of vomit - - the aforementioned cranberry sauce and mandarin oranges. She was whimpering a little bit like she didn't know what to do. I got her up, cleaned her up, and she seemed perfectly fine (didn't feel warm or anything) like it was a fluke. So I played with her for a bit and then thought, what the heck, she seems fine, I'm putting her back in the crib so she'll sleep. Pretty much the same thing repeated itself. By that time, I realized her belly must be bothering her so of course, I kept her up. Over about the next 1.5 hours, she vomited another 5 or 6 times although after awhile, there wasn't much left in there. I tried to get her to use a bowl but she kept pushing it away so some of it landed in inopportune places, much to Dewey and Marlee's delight. I must admit I did a little yelling at the dogs and eventually banished them to their crate. By the end, she had lost much of her energy, a part of it, no doubt, to the fact that she didn't really take a nap. She ended up falling asleep on my lap while Ron and Elaine were visiting (yes, they're back from they're trip). It's really tough because you feel so helpless as you watch the little belly heaving and the look on her face. I just tried to rub her back and hug her and give her encouragement - - you know, generally the same things my mom did for me. I got to return the favor. And it's true, I had no desire to gag or throw up as I helped her through it. I guess that's something that mothers just inherit.
Duncan brought Popsicles home with him but Calleigh showed no interest. She didn't eat supper either, of course. At 7:10, she still seemed very tired so we just put her to bed. She woke up at 2:45 but I turned her music back on and she went right back to sleep until 7:45. She definitely seemed more herself this morning and she ate a good breakfast. But I must say, she seemed to be in a rather foul mood for most of the day. I tried to go grocery shopping at Walmart late this morning and she didn't want to sit in the cart and started having a fit. So we turned right around and left. She had a good nap but it didn't necessarily help. For supper, she refused to eat her pasta and sweet potato (which she normally loves) and didn't want anything else I offered her except for part of a Popsicle. That's all she ended up having. Hopefully she won't wake up in the middle of the night with hunger pains!
One thing that I was able to accomplish today was picking up some dresses I bought through craigslist. I got 15 dresses for Calleigh for $5! I was pretty excited. Elaine went with me to pick them up. Only a few of them are 24 months/2T with the rest being 3T and $T. But at least she'll grow into them eventually. I was afraid they might be ugly but I like most of them. For sure, you can get good deals through craigslist.
Going back to Tuesday, Calleigh had her 18-month appointment. It went better than last time although that isn't saying much. She actually cooperated long enough on the scale to get a good reading on her weight. So here are her stats:
- Height/Length - 32.5 inches 75 - 90th percentile
- Weight - 25 lbs, 3 ounces 50 - 75th percentile
- Head - 19 inches 90th percentile
According to this visit, she barely grew in height but I know that's because they over measured last time. She wiggles around so much that it makes it difficult to get an accurate measurement. Everything checked out fine although the NP (nurse practitioner) said she had some fluid in her ear. It could be left over from the Roseola but now I wonder if it was connected to the vomiting situation. I also had to fill out a questionnaire that had about 50 questions such as "Can your child say 8 other words other than Mama and Dada?" or "Can your child throw a ball overhand?" I marked "Yes" to just about every question and the NP said that she was definitely above average so that was neat to hear. Incidentally, when I told the NP I was pregnant and not having much morning sickness at all, she said that there is scientific research that says that women have less morning sickness with boys than girls. Interesting...
After we were done there, we went to the playground with the sand to meet up with Kristine and Jonathan. We weren't able to stay too long since we were up against lunch and naptime but we were there long enough to enjoy running around and playing in the sand. Compared to the last time we were there and it was 85 degrees (just about 2 weeks ago) it's been in the low to mid 60's this week (and very sunny) so it's been awesome weather.
Okay, I'm very tired so I'm going to sign off here. I hope to take a decent picture of myself over the weekend so you can try to see if I look any different. I'm still wearing my regular clothes with comfort so I don't think I look too different just yet with the pregnancy. I'm trying to remember last time when something actually starts showing...

Interesting theory about no morning sickness and having a boy. Camille may be on that train, too.
A question: did Calleigh get any shots on Tuesday?
I was the worst monther when it came to vomiting. Uncle Charlie took care of it all for me. I was so bad that when Kelly threw up once and Charlie was out of town, I just ended up throwing away the whole sheet. Throwing up is the worst in my book!
