Pizza Night at the Grodacks

As you know, tonight is pizza night and Shannon did a bang up job once again. Do you ever find that food tastes SO much better when someone else makes it? Now I'm sure the pizza really does taste good but just the fact that I don't have to go to the work of making it, just kind of adds something. The sad thing is that Shannon has to work 7 - 7 during three of the next four Thursdays so I'm not sure what we're going to do. We may have to change pizza night to Wednesdays or I suppose we could eat late. But then, I'm sure she's not going to want to make pizza when she's just been on her feet for 12 hours. So we'll have to see. The good thing is that The Office isn't on until 9 so she'll definitely be here by then. I'm certain we'll be watching it over here all together since you know, it is the BEST show any everything, but from the way they're moving with getting cable and Internet, they may not even have it by September 25 when the premiere airs. Someone needs to step up and take charge.

After we ate, we actually did sit around and chat for a little bit. Sure, the computers were on our laps but the fact remains, conversations took place. A big topic is booking flights for upcoming trips. The big trip is the one Shannon and I are taking up to Massachusetts/New Hampshire at the end of September to visit and to go to the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. We aren't going on the same flight unfortunately. Anyway, we're pretty excited about that since it sounds like we'll have a big family contingent joining us at the fair. All the more fun! Also, Dave is booking a bunch of flights to go north including trips next week and during Thanksgiving. Megan may be going to Las Vegas in October for a wedding.

So this has to have its own paragraph because it's so funny. The person in this story will just be called the "person" to protect them. This person was booking a flight on-line and got to the screen where it talked about the fee to reserve a seat. It said that they would have to pay $10 extra PER LEG to reserve a seat. The person practically jumped out of their seat and was like "What??? What if I was an amputee??? I can't believe they make you pay for each leg!!!" The person was dead serious. Duncan and I (okay, so now you know it wasn't either one of us) just about fell out of our seats laughing. I haven't laughed that hard in forever. We were finally able to breathe and explained that it meant each leg of the trip. Not a literal leg. Ahh, good times at Pizza Night.

Once we all calmed down, we decided that we would love some peach yogurt from TCBY but it's nearly impossible to figure out who will go get it. It's about a 7-10 minutes trip each way. Fortunately, we had the foresight to call ahead and they didn't even have the peach so we scratched that plan. Starting Monday, Shannon gave up sweets and sugar. But since the yogurt is non-fat and no sugar added, it's still acceptable she says. I would argue that it's still a "sweet" but who am I? I think that the no peach was very disappointing to Shan but I saved the day by finding out that Bruster's, which is like 1 minute away, has raspberry sugar free frozen yogurt (although not soft serve). So Shannon and Duncan made a trip there and everyone was happy once again.

In Calleigh news, she's doing just fine. I had to leave her yesterday to go to a meeting at work. Duncan and Shannon were here but she literally slept about the whole time I was gone so that worked out well. When I drove up from being gone, there she was playing in the street with Daddy and my heart skipped a beat. Just not seeing her for a couple of hours makes you miss her enormously. It's one thing if she's asleep but to know that she's up and doing things without you is hard.

There are a few new things she's into lately. She loves to have her baby sitting next to her whether it be in her little pink chair or in the grocery cart. So we've had baby around a little more lately. She now identifies herself as Calleigh. If you ask where Calleigh is, she pats her chest with both hands and says Calleigh over and over again. I'm sure I'll have video of that very soon.

Finally, here are some pictures of her in her new boots. Duncan bought these at Walmart last week - - rain was obviously on his mind as it was about the fifth day of rain in a row. The boots are size 5 and she's a size 4 but he couldn't resist. Ron and Elaine popped over this evening and I think Calleigh wanted to show the boots off for Grandma (or MeMaw according to her). MeMaw helped her put them on and then she went into this very strange position that had us all laughing. I guess she then realized we were all laughing at her and it made her a little upset. It was a good photo op though! Aren't the boots cute?? (Yes, she's only in a diaper because a few minutes before she was outside sitting in puddles again!)

OK - I thought I knew who the "person" was, but now I am not so sure. Shannon already booked her flight.... so I guess it is a toss up between two!! (= Sounds like a fun pizza night to me!! Glad to know it's official and you are joining us for the fair!!

Corey, I have to agree with you, when somebody else makes the food it does taste much better.
I hope to be joing the contingent to Fryeburg fair this year--if all works out--it will be my first time!
Could Calleigh bring her boots to Nova Scotia next summer, she and I could be twins!

Alan: Calleigh goes to bed by 7:45 every night and isn't heard from again until 7:30 the next morning so my evenings are pretty free after that. So I do my writing then. It works out pretty well!

Alison: I can't say anything more about the "person." And about the fair, I technically haven't booked the ticket yet because I'm trying to confirm with cousin Gary exactly when he'll be coming to Florida so that I'll be back from up there in time.

Aunt Lori: I'm very excited about the fair - - it will be my first time too! As for the boots, we'll see if they fit her next year. And I did think of you when Duncan got them!!

I thought I knew who the person was too, but it's 5:00 a.m. and I couldn't deduce as Alison did. Thanks for the laughs. I can always count on them in this family. Love Calleigh's boots! kathleen.

I am thinking about doing a "Cooking Case" blog--sharing my favorite recipes--what do you think?
Also, forgot to mention, I just replanted my aerogarden with the mixed greens--I'll let you know how it goes.
